Giveaway: God’s Word from A-Z CD

Abe and Liza Philip are an internationally recognized husband & wife songwriting team.  They have a strong desire for their children to hide God’s Word in their hearts and recorded a CD called God’s Words from A to Z. They recently sent us a copy of the CD for our enjoyment and review and we cannot say enough how much we have enjoyed this CD. Karis has been dancing and singing the verses repeatedly over the last few weeks. She has mastered several of the verses in just a few short days!

This excellent CD with an assortment of diverse music (jazz, classical, bluegrass, pop, country, rock, celtic) highlights 26 Bible verses that correspond to the alphabet. Their 2 year old daughter, Zoe, and 4 year old son, Zach, memorized all 26 verses in a week and share each verse in turn at the beginning of each song. It is so adorable.

This is one simple tool for your library to help reinforce the planting of the truth in the hearts of our little ones. When we memorize Scripture to song we retain it so much more effectively too! These 26 songs will take you on a journey that begins with our sinfulness, runs to the cross of our Savior and ends with the joy of heaven.

Abe & Liza have offered our readers 5 copies of this delightful CD!

we have homemade magnets for the refrigerator made out of reused magnets and clear plastic namecard holders. we put the verses on cards inside the plastic sleeves of the magnet and practice them when we get stuff out of the fridge…which is often!

  3. rachel June 11, 2010 at 1:45 pm #

we sing bible verses to the tunes of nursery rhymes (london bridges, this old man, etc), adding hand motions on occasion. my 4 year old has several verses memorized with scripture references.

  4. Christy H June 11, 2010 at 1:06 pm #

  5. Loria June 11, 2010 at 12:19 pm #

My son colors pages with scripure on them. I then hang them from an artwork ribbon line in his room. We read them before he goes to bed in order to memorize them

  6. Megan June 11, 2010 at 8:49 am #

my favorite tool is flashcards! i have a whole stack of favorite verses and bring one out whenever i go on a walk or something like that, and meditate on the verse.

  7. Meredith June 11, 2010 at 8:41 am #

I have a 3 year old son, an 18 month old daughter and a little one on the way. My husband and I were just talking yesterday about the fact that if they listened to Bible verses in song they would pick them up so quickly. This sounds like something that we would enjoy listening to as well. I would be thrilled for our family to own this cd!

  8. Angela June 10, 2010 at 6:58 pm #

My son is 6 months old. I pray every evening that God’s word would be written on his heart. I was so excited to see this post! This will be such a wonderful resource to have! I can’t wait to get this CD and start playing it for him. It’s never too early to start exposing youngsters to scripture!

  9. Karen June 10, 2010 at 5:04 pm #

We love singing scripture here. I would enjoy the CD to change things up a bit!

  10. erica June 10, 2010 at 4:35 pm #

  11. Alexandra June 10, 2010 at 3:48 pm #

What a great idea for placing God’s word into young kids minds and hearts. Would love to have it for my 5 yo daughter

  12. Memorey June 10, 2010 at 2:41 pm #

I have a 3, 2, & 1 year old and we do a devo every night. We use hand motions to help the girls learn and it seems to be a great way for them to remember because they are doing great with it. Would love to have this for them as a new way to remember God’s Word!

  13. Tori June 10, 2010 at 8:54 am #

This fits right in with how we should speak to each other with psalms, hymns & spiritual songs. A fabulous way to get His word in! A few days ago my girls (ages 11, 13) were overheard singing Psalms 139:1-8 to the tune of O Holy Night. Our family is working on this passage and they creatively just began to do it is way. Part of our Scripture memory is jazzed up with some rhythms & beats also for fun. Jesus upholds the universe by the word of His power (Heb. 1:3b). The souls of our children along with the parents need this awesome power to walk the “Jesus walk”. Be blessed by His living oracles.

  14. Kim June 10, 2010 at 4:46 am #

I love learning verses through song but I also find that just reading scripture a lot helps to memorize over time.

  15. Kristi June 10, 2010 at 3:32 am #

I would love to have this cd for my 2 year old. My memory trick is to write on an index card and tape it to my window by the kitchen sink so I can read and reread it while I’m washing dishes.

  16. Anita June 9, 2010 at 7:28 pm #

We have a Family Bible Night once a week that my four kids are loving. They ask all week for it. Part of our activities is memorizing a scripture for that week, and at Family Bible Night, if they have it memorized, they get to put a sticker on their chart. They so love this!
Another tool I have found useful is that sometimes, when hand motions are applicable to a verse, they can help with memorizing.
I would love to win this cd for all of my children to continue to hide God’s Word in their hearts, but especially for my 6 year old daughter who is beginning to learn about the fears of this world, and is struggling with it. She, now more than ever, needs to have God’s Word hidden in her heart so that she can lean on it and use it when those fears are gripping at her, and so that she may be comforted by her Heavenly Father.

  17. Emily June 9, 2010 at 6:38 pm #

I have this CD (so I’m not entering…just commenting!) and want to say it’s fantastic. The Phillips go to our church and they are wonderful people.

  18. Janelle June 9, 2010 at 5:23 pm #

I’d love to have this to help me and my future children hide God’s word in our hearts!

  19. Melanie June 9, 2010 at 2:06 pm #

What a great resource! I wish I had had something like that when I was little. I realize now how important it is for us to memorize scripture, and this sounds like a great tool to start early!

  20. Melissa June 9, 2010 at 12:44 pm #

We love singing Scripture…it helps it stick! Our family favorite CD’s are Seeds Family Worship and Hide ‘em in Your Heart.

  21. Diana (Ladybug Limited) June 9, 2010 at 12:31 pm #

Our favorite way to memorize Bible verses is the Seeds Family Worship CDs — they’re awesome! I’d love to check this out, too — no such thing as too many Scripture CDs!

  22. Cat June 9, 2010 at 10:41 am #

This sounds wonderful to have for the family, a great way to incorporate daily scripture reading and learning!

  23. Tara McClenahan June 9, 2010 at 9:25 am #

  26. Corinne June 8, 2010 at 10:57 pm #

If I win a cd, I will save it for my grandbaby who is due in September. I Purchased many Scripture tapes for my boys and they loved them, and I plan to do the same for my grandchildren.

  27. LaDonna June 8, 2010 at 8:40 pm #

Right now our favorite way to memorize scripture is to use songs.

  28. Cheryl @ Moms In Need of Mercy June 8, 2010 at 8:06 pm #

Well, I am getting ready to put in our homeschool order, and I have a memorizing God’s Word A-Z CD on my list, so winning this would be great!
How do we memorize? Just repetition, I guess.
My 5-year old was encouraged to memorize a verse a week for Awana, so we would usually go over that at breakfast each day (and several days the day of Awana..hee hee) ;)

We memorize a lot of things by song!

  33. Mary June 8, 2010 at 6:17 pm #

Wow! I’d love to share this with my 3 sprouts! What better way than God’s Word to music. Memorizing Scripture on walks is a great way to discuss and put it to memory, and praying through it too!

  34. Shawn June 8, 2010 at 6:16 pm #

We memorize a lot of things by song! I make up some tone and we learn the verse, phone # address, etc that way!

  35. Mary June 8, 2010 at 6:10 pm #

I would love this CD for our 3 young children. This past year our 3 year old started a scripture memory caterpillar around her room. Each verse she learned she got to help draw a circle, cut it out, color it and Mommy wrote the verse she had learned. She was able to watch the caterpillar grow around the walls of her room. I had read a similar idea in a magazine and it spurred the idea.

  36. Charissa June 8, 2010 at 5:53 pm #

We try to keep verses in key spots around the house and read them often. This would be a great way to teach our children more. Thanks for the giveaway!

  37. Renae June 8, 2010 at 5:46 pm #

I got an “A-Z” devotional book for my kids -we memorized 26 verses together, one for each letter of the alphabet. I still recite them in my head at night when I can’t sleep!

  38. Tammysuddenlink.net June 8, 2010 at 5:04 pm #

I can still remember verses from a couple of Scripture CDs I listened to years ago as an adult. I would love to have music that is geared to kids.

  39. Connie June 8, 2010 at 5:04 pm #

I love scripture put to music!

  40. Amy Jo McMorrow June 8, 2010 at 4:23 pm #

We would welcome this CD into our home! Another great set of Bible Memory CDs and booklets is Thy Word Creations. Our children have learned passages of scripture through these fun musical cds! It is priceless to hear them singing scripture while they are playing or doing artwork! They memorize so fast too!

I shared this on my Facebook Page also!

  41. Joanna June 8, 2010 at 2:19 pm #

I would love to have one of those! I have to try to let my club memorize verses by singing songs. Thanks for the oppurtunity.

  42. Megan Root June 8, 2010 at 2:18 pm #

I grew up listening to GT and the Halo Express tapes, which included scripture set to music. I can still sing all of those songs! Music is such a powerful tool in memorization.

  43. LS June 8, 2010 at 1:52 pm #

I love music for memorizing things. That is what helps me the most. I would love to win!

  44. PanJiaLe June 8, 2010 at 12:36 pm #

My son has recently started singing along to favorite CDs. I would love for him to be singing scripture.

  45. Mrs. Kimberly Rhoades June 8, 2010 at 12:34 pm #

What helps me as a grownup is to keep an index card in my pocket all week that has the verses on it. Then, when I’m waiting on a child (or a cashier, in line), I can pull it out and get in some practice.

This is the method I recommend for older children, too…..for younger chn, it’s all “oral tradiiont” (repetition).

Thank you for entering our family! :-)

  46. Rebecca June 8, 2010 at 11:42 am #

We could really use this as we haven’t done any actual memorization of verses before.

  47. Wendy June 8, 2010 at 11:40 am #

I’ve used note cards in the past to memorize scripture, but since my son can’t read yet, I think the songs would be a great way to help him memorize verses. Thanks!

  48. Terra Jones June 8, 2010 at 10:27 am #

Well, I honestly have a HORRIBLE time memorizing scripture! Maybe this would help me out too!? Thanks for the chance to win!

  49. Belinda June 8, 2010 at 10:19 am #

Music is the BEST way to memorize scripture. My children are grown, from 40 yrs. to 29 yrs. old – and when I play scripture songs, they can still sing every word.

I personally believe the the KJV is the easiest to memorize, as it is very poetically written. Easier to remember than common language.

I would love this cd, for my benefit and my grandchildren’s!

  50. Lisa Felch June 8, 2010 at 9:39 am #

I’d love a copy of this CD. My 18 month old daughter enjoys the Steve Green Hide Them in Your Heart songs (and so does Mommy–they’ve ministered to me a lot in the midst of some challenging transitions recently), and I’d love to introduce her to more music to memorize scripture. And, she’s just the first little one in our family; #2 arrives in July, and we hope for more to rear in the faith.

  51. Lisa June 8, 2010 at 6:32 am #

I would love this to help me in me and my children in memorizing Scripture.

    • amanda June 8, 2010 at 9:36 am #

my 22 month old lson absolutely loves singing and music! i realized that we need to do more than his beloved raffi and incorporate scripture etc into his daily music. music is a wonderful way to learn scripture!

  52. Alicia June 8, 2010 at 5:24 am #

I guess I am supposed to say that I liked this on facebook too :) I also posted that this cd looks great and am looking forward to hearing it. Thanks for informing us!

  53. Alicia June 8, 2010 at 5:23 am #

Song is our favorate way to learn. And I still remember songs from when I was little. We also use the white bord and write the words. Then erase a word at a time while saying it over and over. All the kids can participate by erasing a word.

  54. Sarah June 8, 2010 at 5:18 am #

I also put this on my blog.

  55. Sarah June 8, 2010 at 5:17 am #

My children are little now and I want them to be steeped in Scripture as they grow up. Singing it is one of the best ways that I memorize verses so I want my kids to be exposed to that as well.

  59. MelissaD June 8, 2010 at 4:36 am #

Music is DEFINITELY an amazing way to learn and remember Scripture. Our children are in the AWANA program at our church and are weekly challenged to learn Scripture. AWANA has put to song all the books of the Bible… and our 7, 5, and 4 year old children have got it memorized!!! And because I had to teach them the song, it’s now in my memory. It’s great.

This CD would be a fantastic thing to add to our Bible time each day!

  60. Angi June 8, 2010 at 3:47 am #

We do it first thing in the morning at breakfast – when they are fresh and paying attention!:-) Then work on that one throughout the day. Thanks for your ministry!!

  61. Starlit Meredith June 7, 2010 at 10:49 pm #

My favorite way to memorize verses is to use a dry-erase marker and write the verse I am trying to memorize on my bathroom mirror and on my refridgerator. It cleans off easily and every time I go in the bathroom or by the fridge it reinforces the verse in my memory.

  62. MaryKay June 7, 2010 at 9:10 pm #

Every since they were little, every night they would listen through out the night to scripture songs. Now that the older ones are adults, they use 3×5 cards taped every where. Now our last one is following in their footsteps. Thanks for the giveaway.

  63. pauline June 7, 2010 at 8:24 pm #

singing scripture has definitely been the best way to help my son memorize god’s word. besides our song for saplings cd, we will put a verse to some other familiar song tunes – my son especially loves when i put them to his favorite superhero theme song tunes, like spiderman or astro boy.

  64. Lydia Graves June 7, 2010 at 8:14 pm #

We love listening to verses put to music, but my main way of trying to teach Scripture has been to just repeat the verse often throughout the day. My little man starts to join in with me pretty quickly. Thanks for the giveaway!

  65. Emily Archer June 7, 2010 at 7:49 pm #

I LOVE Scripture CD’s for my kids….the best way to memorize Scripture! Another good one is “Songs for Saplings.” I’d love to add this one to our collection!

  66. Kendra June 7, 2010 at 7:41 pm #

I don’t memorize scripture like I used to when I was in elementary school but the easiest way for me to remember verses is through songs.

  67. Rachel June 7, 2010 at 7:25 pm #

I’m a new mom and greatly desire to both teach and model hiding God’s Word in our hearts to my son. I LOVE scripture to music because it makes it so much easier to remember, and now that I have a child, I’ve been looking for kid-friendly versions. This sounds perfect!

  68. Julie June 7, 2010 at 6:40 pm #

We make up little songs for each verse and then sing them as we do silly dances around the house. This was really effective in teaching my three year old all the verses in the My A to Z Bible Verse book.

  69. Jennifer June 7, 2010 at 6:25 pm #

    I tweeted about this contest!

  70. Jennifer June 7, 2010 at 6:22 pm #

I have good success with reading over my verse 3-4 before bed, usually out loud, and then looking at it again in the morning to refresh. Then, any time it passes through my head during the day, I say it 3-4 more times. This works well for me, when I actually do it, but I am very lax. However, I know I can learn new song lyrics in just an afternoon, so I would love to have this cd for my 19 month old and myself!

  71. Lindsey Gutierrez June 7, 2010 at 5:43 pm #

With my 5,3, and 2 year old we put hand motions to scripture and “mime” it out. We are working on Psalm 139 in the evenings at bed time. They love the parts, “you know when I sit down, and when I rise up!”. During the day I give the oldest two a chance to recite it/act it out together. When they get a new verse done, I let them take turns putting a new sticker on a poster- I drew a candy jar on poster board with little numbered candies inside and with each new verse that get to put a candy sticker on the corresponding drawing.

We love songs too! English and Spanish in our house.

I would love a CD because scripture is very important to me and my kids love memorizing it. And, I hope that there will be more kids in my house someday to teach ;)

  72. Michelle Grazor June 7, 2010 at 5:04 pm #

I published this on my Facebook page. Thanks!

  73. Michelle Grazor June 7, 2010 at 5:02 pm #

We make up melodies and set the verses to the music!

  74. Colleen June 7, 2010 at 4:56 pm #

My favorite way to memorize scripture is to say a phrase three times, then move on to the next phrase (say it three times) and then combine the phrases and say them three times. You read each segment before you say it from memory for the three times. This works for me, but when I set out to memorize, I try to choose whole passages or chapters as the rhythm of multiple verses together feels easier to remember, as well as providing a richer experience of meditating on multiple verses.

As a child we did have memory CDs that we listened to… and I still remember the songs (and verses) to this day! What a great giveaway!

  75. Carrie Smyth June 7, 2010 at 4:45 pm #

We enjoy reciting during meal times and while driving and love to make up songs to help in memorizing. Thanks for the great recommendations and giveaway offer. The Lord bless your family.

  76. Stacey June 7, 2010 at 4:24 pm #

We usually make little songs with signs to go with them for memorizing scripture, so this would be AWESOME!!

  77. Marla Y June 7, 2010 at 3:00 pm #

i use a spiral iindex card book and put one verse one each card. This can be taken with me everywhere so that whenever I have a free moment I can pull it out and memorize or review what I’ve already memorized. Thank you for the giveaway.

  78. Amy Plew June 7, 2010 at 1:12 pm #

I didn’t start memorizing Scripture until I was forced to do so while attending a Christian high school. Even though I didn’t like memorizing Bible verses for tests, those same verses have come back to me. Now that I’m a mother, I realize how important it is to hide God’s Word in your heart at a young age. I’ve been looking at ways to help my 4 year-old with memorizing, and these CDs would be a great way to help him (and me!) with memorization!!! Thanks for a great giveaway!

  79. Kaysie June 7, 2010 at 1:06 pm #

I like to put a verse on a notecard and then put it in my pocket all day. Then whenever I have a spare moment I take it out and read it (even in the bathroom!)

  80. Sherry June 7, 2010 at 1:03 pm #

Scripture memorization is easiest for me when put to song…would love to pass this on to my young niece.

  81. Lauren June 7, 2010 at 12:48 pm #

I memorize scripture best by repeating it over and over until I have each verse down. I also have my husband read it aloud to me and then I will repeat it back to him. I would love to have this CD in my home as a tool to help my family learn scripture.

  82. Tia June 7, 2010 at 12:47 pm #

Scripture memory is a tough thing for my husband and I to do. We know we need to do it, but it is a struggle. So, if we can find a creative way to get our kids to do it (like music) there is a better chance that we will memorize it too. Good for the whole family :-)

  83. Jen June 7, 2010 at 12:37 pm #

    I blogged about it-

I would love to win this CD. I have been trying to help my oldest child start memorizing verses. This would make it a little more fun for her.

  85. Jen June 7, 2010 at 12:33 pm #

This sounds wonderful- we would love a copy!

  86. Erin June 7, 2010 at 12:31 pm #

I would love to memorize scripture by music. So far, writing them on index cards is all I’ve done.

  87. Lissa June 7, 2010 at 12:25 pm #

Why would we like to have this CD? My husband and I have recently come back to God. This would be a wonderful learning tool for our children as we don’t really have any except for our Bible and some child friendly christian books. We want to incorporate God more fully into our lives and this CD would be wonderful to add in to our budding collection.

  88. Catherine R. June 7, 2010 at 12:22 pm #

I think we need something like this around our home. Why would we love to receive this CD? Well, as a relatively new Christian and busy newish mom, I just never got into the groove of making scripture memorization a habit. I am about to have my second child and I think the more ideas to strategically get God’s word into our day the better. I too easily get overwhelmed in my days – I think my 1.5 year old and I can both benefit.

My daughter is almost 2 and I would LOVE to start teaching her scripture through music. Her mind is a sponge right now. :)

  91. Kathy June 7, 2010 at 12:07 pm #

We say the verse over and over. If you are dealing with a reader, cover one word from the beginning and increase each time you read the verse till it is all gone.

  92. TriciaS June 7, 2010 at 11:50 am #

Ohh! My oldest is 2 and we’re really just starting to do children’s Bible stories and songs with him. I would love to have more tools to help me teach him all about God!

  93. Beth Ann Zeller June 7, 2010 at 11:38 am #

We have 13 beautiful children. The younger ones (and many of the older ones too,) go to sleep listening to Christian cds, most of them scripture-oriented. With the wear and tear of many years and many users, we could always use a new scripture recording!

While I school them each day, we often work on longer passages of scripture together. One of the things I do is to recite the passage slowly, stopping frequently to let them raise hands to be called on to fill in a word or phrase. Because our formerly girl-dominated household has given way to more boys than girls now, this sort of competition, (to be the first to have their hand up and fill in the blank,) really motivates them!

  94. April June 7, 2010 at 11:31 am #

I would love this! My 18-month old can barely talk but has already learned a few songs. What a neat thing it would be for some of his very first sentences to be scripture!! Thanks for posting info about this resource; I’m going to check it out right now!

  95. Kellie June 7, 2010 at 11:30 am #

We pick a verse of the week, and say it whenever we pray. We say it before every meal, in the morning when we wake up and again before bed.

  96. Laura June 7, 2010 at 11:06 am #

I would love this! I have a 3 month old and this would be a great resource!

I love using music as a learning tool! Another thing we did while growing up was while doing chores one of us would quote a scripture and then another would quote a scripture. It sometimes we would have a little contest to see who could quote the most!
I’d love to have this CD because my daughter is starting to sing songs! Steve Green’s “Hide ‘em in your Heart” are playing all the time and it would be nice to have some variation :-D

  98. Shawn June 7, 2010 at 10:46 am #

Oh WOW! I would LOVE to win this CD! The way that I memorize scripture is to write out a verse that pertains to what is going on in my life in my journal. When I write things they just stick in my memory and in my heart.

  99. Amy T June 7, 2010 at 10:46 am #

I am a nanny and work on memorizing though songs all the time! I teach Sunday School to preschool age kids and the best way to teach them is through songs and games. The kids I teach don’t like to sit still and just memorize so instead we make a game out of it. For example, if the child repeats the verse they get to jump to a certain spot and get to move every time they remember or repeat part of the verse. I would love to win this cd so I can use it to teach not only the children i watch but also those in our church. My husband and I are also in training to be in the ministry (he will be a pastor) so this would be a great tool!

  100. Erin June 7, 2010 at 10:16 am #

This CD sounds wonderful! I love having music and songs to correlate with verses. It really does make memorizing so much easier! To this day I remember some Bible verses because of songs memorized in AWANA or sunday school. I would love to begin early with our 8 month old. Thanks!

  101. Amanda June 7, 2010 at 10:11 am #

Every time I work on a verse with my 3 year old, I am amazed at how quickly and easily memorization comes. The verses that I can still recall by memory were memorized when I was young…so important to take advantage of these years for our kiddos!

This CD looks like a wonderful resource. Thanks for sharing tools like this that help get the Scripture into our homes, Lindsay. You have been one of my most helpful resources for finding great books, CDs, etc. =) Thanks for the giveaway!

  102. Jessica M. June 7, 2010 at 10:07 am #

My 14 month-old daughter Eva began showing a special interest in music and movement at 3 months. She absolutely loves sing-alongs and has been humming and singing (baby babble) to herself for six months. I am always on the look-out for new ways to enrich what may be her God-given spiritual gift.

  103. Lisa Beth W. June 7, 2010 at 9:49 am #

We have found that memorizing with music is our favorite and most effective way. Otherwise repetition, repetition, repetition!

  104. Gretchen June 7, 2010 at 9:20 am #

The best time I’ve found for working on Scripture memory with my girls is while driving in the car. This means I have to have the verse pretty well memorized, but I say it over and over and over again, and soon my 2 1/2 year old starts repeating it with me.

  105. Gretchen June 7, 2010 at 9:19 am #

I shared it on FaceBook and am blogging about it right now.

  106. Sarah June 7, 2010 at 9:05 am #

I didn’t even know that someone made a modern version!! SO excited. Someone gave a tape like this to my mom before she was a christian and she played it for us in the car sometimes…I SO often say to my husband wow we really need to do this for our children because it is SO effective! The verses I know the best are from that tape! In times that I really need a verse from the Lord that is often what I remember. Thanks for this! The way I usually remember verses now (or try to!) is by writing it on my bathroom mirror with a washable marker. I have a kidney disease so I am constantly in the bathroom, a very effective way for me! haha

  107. Jennifer Ott June 7, 2010 at 9:01 am #

We would love this! We do like memorizing to music, but we also repeat verses doing motions or just moving! My kids (5, 4, and 2) have memorized over 50 verses this year just by adding motions or jumping, walking, etc. while saying them.

  108. Melody June 7, 2010 at 8:39 am #

What a great opportunity to win this! My favorite way to teach my kids scripture is to put hand motions to it!

Psalm 100 was their favorite: some of what we did:
-after v. 2, we sang “Jesus Loves me this I know” …and after just that phrase, we went directly to v. 3, which in NIV begins with “Know” …
    - after verse 3 …where it says, “the sheep of His pasture,” we did the sign language for sheep while making a baa-baa sound.
    -etc……
My older ones still know this Psalm, even though it was 12 yrs. ago when we memorized it! We taught it to our 3 yr. old last year…and she loves it!

    Great fun!

  109. Vanessa June 7, 2010 at 8:33 am #

Singing Scripture is the way that seems to help me and my kids memorize passages.

  110. Andrea June 7, 2010 at 8:16 am #

We work on memorizing verses while I wash the dishes after breakfast. We’ve gotten through quite a few long passages that way!

  111. Kristine June 7, 2010 at 7:58 am #

I have heard this cd is great! I would love to win it because I am not very creative when it comes to helping my kids (and myself) memorize scripture. I know this would help!

  112. Elizabeth June 7, 2010 at 7:52 am #

When I was young, my mom put my memory verses to music and I still remember those verses to this day! Memorizing to music is a great way to memorize!

  113. Daniella June 7, 2010 at 7:48 am #

I would love to receive this cd because I am NOT good at memorizing scripture. I have struggled with this my entire born-again life, and I am not good at dedicating time to it, focusing on it, or even desiring to do it. But I know that it is the way God can speak to me, to my heart, yet I still do not make great efforts to learn. I could use some motivation and encouragement even in the form of a cd that sounds like it’s geared towards kids, because I want to be able to teach my kids (our daughter is 11 months) scripture and help them have a passion for learning it and ‘writing it on the tablet of their hearts’, as my mother always quoted to me.

  118. Melissa @ Anxious for Nothing June 7, 2010 at 7:13 am #

My favorite way to memorize Scripture is definitely to find or make a song out of a verse or passage. Songs stick in my head really well, so I pretty much retain Scripture for life when I memorize this way.

Another helpful method for me is typing out the verse or passage over and over and over again.

  119. Traci Katz June 7, 2010 at 7:12 am #

I learned a neat trick recently. Write out a scripture using only the first letter of each word of the verse. Those letters serve as reminders, but you still must recall the actual words. I’ve loved how well this works for me. Thanks for the contest.

I love Scripture Songs & still remember tons that I learned growing up! I want my son to learn as much scripture as he can while he’s young & it comes much easier. I also like to write verses on 3×5 cards & post them places I’ll see them often.

  122. Marie June 7, 2010 at 6:50 am #

I like to post the verse in a couple places I’ll see every day, above my kitchen sink, on my bathroom mirror, in my car, etc… To remind me to think through it again. I also love songs with scripture, because it’s so easy for me to remember songs!

A mom in our former church put almost all of our memory verses to music–it was amazing how much her kids were able to memorize! I’d love this cd for our future children.

As an adult, I find that laminating passages and sticking them on the wall in the shower helps me memorize!

  125. Donna June 7, 2010 at 6:29 am #

I really want to start memorizing with my children. It is something I wasn’t taught very much growing up and I want God’s word firmly implanted in my children’s hearts by the time they leave home.

  126. Megan W. June 7, 2010 at 6:21 am #

Oh I would love to win this! Even though DS is only 10 mon. old, I’ve been on the hunt for some sound Christian cds. We aren’t working on memorization, but I simply read them to him.

  127. Sheri June 7, 2010 at 6:18 am #

Right now we just review the scripture with our 3 children several times until they have it memorized. This CD would be great for them to hear while they are having their quiet time or for all of us in the car, especially for the 2 that don’t read yet! What a blessing this would be!

  128. Stephanie June 7, 2010 at 6:14 am #

Music is a great way to memorize things. I would love a CD that would help my children memorize bible verses. Currently, we use repetition – not very fancy and somewhat effective.

I would love to have this CD. I have two little ones, one 3 and one 2 next month! I alos teach the nursery age Sunday school at church. I have been working on memorzation with my little ones, but some just doing the words is too hard. However, they can sing every song back to you. So, I am thinking this CD can help me teach the sweet little minds God’s wonderful Word!

  132. Debra June 7, 2010 at 5:59 am #

I have been recently teaching verses to my 3 1/2 yr old and would love this tool!

  133. Molly White June 7, 2010 at 5:49 am #

We would love to have a copy of this cd in our home! Currently, I keep Eli’s memory verses in printed out and taped to the inside of my most used kitchen cabinet, so we can review them while I work in the kitchen. We have been doing it this way for nearly a year now, and it is effective, but we would love something to freshen up the routine! I keep mine on index cards so I can go over them in line at the grocery store, or the bank, or anywhere!

  134. isabel June 7, 2010 at 5:49 am #

My girls are constantly singing. We would love using this CD to memorize scripture to music. Thank you :)

  135. Michelle June 7, 2010 at 5:49 am #

Great ideas! My son loves putting motions with songs/ verses and it seems to help him a lot. There are times he remembers more than me! Maybe I need the CD, too! Thanks for the giveaway.

  136. Holland Saltsman June 7, 2010 at 5:47 am #

Through our Church website, I am able to enter in a scripture that I’d like to focus on/memorize and it will email it to me until I change a setting to add another. Great daily reminder! I’d love this CD as we are taking a road trip soon and this would be great to add to the rotation. Thanks!

  137. Molly White June 7, 2010 at 5:43 am #

We sure would enjoy this cd at our house! Currently, Eli’s memory verses are taped inside our most used kitchen cabinet, so I can help him learn them. We’ve been doing that for nearly a year, and it would be great to have something to change up the routine. I keep mine on index cards, and carry them with me, so I can look at them while in line at the grocery store, or at the bank, etc.

  138. Brandi June 7, 2010 at 5:41 am #

I am learning to speak the scriptures that I am memorizing to my 3 year old each day. So for example if my verse is “Do everything without complaining or arguing” then we talk about the verse all day. We sing about it and look it up in her bible and mine. Before bed I ask her what did we learn today…

I would love this resource thank you for sharing!!!

  141. Rachel H. June 7, 2010 at 5:16 am #

Music is such a wonderful tool to learn by! We have not tried to memorize scripture yet with our three little ones, but this might be a wonderful way to begin. Blessings.

  142. Heather June 7, 2010 at 5:05 am #

I’ve been working through A-Z scriptures with my 1st grader. Having them set to music would make the memorization easier and fun too.

  143. Janette June 7, 2010 at 5:03 am #

Never underestimate how smart preschoolers are! When I realized my oldest daughter had a great memory we started memorizing Scriptures and my then 1 1/2 year old daughter started to memorize right along with us. I like using the Scripture Memory System as it helps you with retaining the verses you have already memorized so they don’t have to be re memorized again. Check out the info here: http://simplycharlottemason.com/timesavers/memorysys/
    Thanks for this giveaway!

  144. Marilyn June 7, 2010 at 4:58 am #

We write out the Bible verse on Word and add clip art to represent some of the main words- then when our 3 year old daughter looks at the verse she has the pictures to help her remember the words. As she learns the verse we have her say it without the pictures so that we know she really has it memorized!
We would love to win the CD as we are planning to learn a verse for every letter of the alphabet next year anyway!
    Thanks!

  145. Rachelle June 7, 2010 at 4:45 am #

I’ve been working on scripture memorization with my son. Having scripture set to music would be a more fun way to do it!

  146. April June 7, 2010 at 4:39 am #

I love using music to help memorize scripture! We have also purchased scripture CDs from the Learning Parent that the kids listen to when they go to bed or take a rest – we love them!!!

What a great way to practice Psalm 119:11…hiding God’s word in our childrens’ hearts, that they might not sin against God. Thank you for this give-a-way!

  150. tracie June 7, 2010 at 3:47 am #

We have been memorizing scripture as part of school but saying it over and over, but to learn it to music would be wonderful.

  151. Annie June 7, 2010 at 3:15 am #

I would love to receive a copy of this CD. Our boys each learn in very different ways. Our oldest has no trouble memorizing scripture, he re-reads it over and over. My youngest however, has trouble remembering Scripture verses and this really frustrates him, because his brother can do it. But he loves learning new songs. This would be an awesome CD for our entire family!

  152. Jessica June 7, 2010 at 3:03 am #

It would be perfect timing to win this cd! My husband and I were just talking about ordering one like this for our two year old.

  153. Nicole June 7, 2010 at 2:44 am #

I would love this CD because I feel it is one more way in incorporate God into my daughters life.

  154. Jessica in Europe June 7, 2010 at 2:40 am #

We read the scripture we want the children to memorize over and over again. Our two year old just memorized her first verse. I’d love this CD for the car.

  155. Amber June 7, 2010 at 2:22 am #

My husband and I were just talking about what an incredible memory or 2 year old has. And, she loves music – especially “kid tunes”. I think a great way to reinforce scripture memory is for the parents to sing along too. It actually seems to take more effort for the adults memories than the little ones!

  156. Jane June 7, 2010 at 2:20 am #

Music is the best way for us to memorize

  157. Amy June 7, 2010 at 2:20 am #

I am very excited about this cd & plan on buying it, if I don’t win one first ; ) . One of my favorite dates with my husband was when we went to a small coffee shop and picked out 26 verses together for our daughter to memorize. We worked on one a week after breakfast. I printed them out with the ABC letter in a huge block letter that she could paint or color in at the beginning of the week. It’s been amazing to watch her learn these. She’s recited them to my husband’s youth group on occasion, which has convicted them to learn more too.

  158. Sheryl June 7, 2010 at 1:50 am #

We have 3, 2, and 1 year old girls. We love Hide ‘Em in Your Heart, and I’ve picked different verses to put to my own tunes. The best place for review for us has been while they are taking a bath! :) Sometimes they sing them randomly during the day, which is so fun.

  159. Emily C June 6, 2010 at 9:59 pm #

Music is a great way! I would love to play this in the car with my little ones — their memories are incredible!

  160. Autumn June 6, 2010 at 9:21 pm #

My kids (3 and 2) love Seeds Family Worship songs and sing along to the Bible verses. It’s so cute! We also do rote memorization at our evening family devotional, and it’s amazing how the verses will stick with my older son even months after he first learned them. This CD sounds wonderful, and I’d love to try it.

  163. Elizabeth Bradley June 6, 2010 at 8:58 pm #

My husband and I are in the process of adopting our first child. We would love to win one of these cds to share with our little one some day.

  164. Courtney B. June 6, 2010 at 8:48 pm #

I love to use silly hand motions, emphasis on certain words, songs and even cheerleader chants :) I just repeat, repeat, repeat. My son recites Bible verses before he goes to bed every night…sometimes in a silly manner. It is apart of our routine before prayer. We have an almost 20 month old who hears her brother recite Bible verses every night. She even recites them in baby talk!

  165. Jocelyn June 6, 2010 at 8:42 pm #

Our kids are 2 and 4 and putting scripture to music is definitely the fastest way for them to learn! We love Hide ‘em in Your Heart and Seed Family worship. This would be a great addition to our collection! Thanks for the giveaway!

  166. Jocelyn June 6, 2010 at 8:37 pm #

We try to teach our kids a few different ways to memorize verses. We make up our own tunes, we do handsigns even and then we often write it down and repeat it over and over and over again throughout the day. We then keep some of the words out and the kids fill it in. It’s amazing what a 4 and 5yr old can do!!! The quickest way is definitely by song.

  167. C June 6, 2010 at 8:36 pm #

We learn our verses to music too.
Also – we practice our new verse each week and then a different review verse MWF and TThS at the breakfast table. The kids love to take turns – I store it in a recipe card box. I forget where I found the idea but it is working great for us.

  168. EllaJac June 6, 2010 at 8:32 pm #

We were just listening to this CD in the car today. My 10 yr old boy likes it along with all of my other kids. My 3 year old has quite a few of them memorized. We love this CD. I am not posting to win the CD but wanted to let everyone know how totally awesome it is! Buy it if you don’t win it! Totally worth it!!!!!

  171. Lauren June 6, 2010 at 7:52 pm #

My 2 year old also likes the Seeds cd’s which help memorize scripture as well : )

  172. Stella June 6, 2010 at 7:44 pm #

My daughter is not yet a year old and only knows a few words, so she has not yet recited any scripture! My best tool for memorizing is just keeping verses handy. I have a slot in my diaper bag for showing off baby pictures and instead I write out my memory verse and keep it in there. I see it and read it every time I open the bag (a lot!). I also have a verse set as the desktop on my iPhone so that I see it every time I turn it on. I think music is a great way for kids to learn and I’m sure I would too! Would love to win a copy. Thanks to Abe & Liza for the giveaway!

We enjoy reviewing the same passage of Scripture at dinnertime with our little guys. They’ve memorized much of the beginning of 1 John this way. We would love this CD to aid them in further Scripture memory!

I would love to win this CD!!! We have Steve Green’s Hide ‘em in your Heart, which has worked well for our daughter, but honestly I get a little tired of the tunes. ;) I would love to add some variety to our scripture music collection with this one!!

  181. Miracle Quelle June 6, 2010 at 7:14 pm #

We love to memorize scripture and do it every night before bed. A few things we have tried are a book that has the sign language with the verse, and posting the verse in a visible spot by their bed. This not only reinforces the verse, it helps with reading skills as well. I also use the verses for copywork in our homeschool.

  182. Elizabeth June 6, 2010 at 7:14 pm #

I am excited about this cd! I grew up listening to kid’s christian music and still remember the songs today (does anyone remember Music Machine or Psalty’s Praise tapes? Talk about old school!). I would love to be able to do the same thing for my own kids. My little guys love to dance and sing. The fall asleep listening to music every night. I would love if they could fall asleep to such uplifting music that sews little seeds of truth in their hearts every night as they drift off to sleep.

  183. april emery June 6, 2010 at 7:13 pm #

i would love this cd because my kids love to sing … singing scripture would be a great way for them to memorize with it being FUN

  184. Michele June 6, 2010 at 7:12 pm #

I do not have a lot of Christian music, but I do believe that it is one of the best ways for children to remember something. I have a wide age range of children who are home with me and would love to be able to play this music and have them learn scripture in such a natural way.

  185. emily green June 6, 2010 at 7:12 pm #

scripture is so much easier to memorize when it has a beat and a rhythm to it!!
this would be a wonderful gift …

  188. Kayla June 6, 2010 at 7:11 pm #

I agree that learning verses to music is much easier to memorize. I love when we’ve sung songs at church that I love only to come across the scripture they have based the song off of using the exact wording. It is so encouraging to know that I’ve been singing these scriptures on a daily basis and with my daughter!

  189. Naomi June 6, 2010 at 7:07 pm #

I find songs the easiest way to memorize Scripture. I love singing the mellow tunes of Scripture put to music that came out in the ’70′s. It’s what I grew up and what I still enjoy now!

  190. Amy W. June 6, 2010 at 7:04 pm #

I would love to win this CD, I currently have a baby and a toddler and of course it is a great priority of mine (and my husband’s) that our boys would learn God’s word and hide it in their hearts. I love hearing Scripture set to music, it really does help with memorization. Thanks for the opportunity to enter this giveaway!

  191. Becky June 6, 2010 at 6:52 pm #

I do not have any tips on memorizing scripture yet with my kids. I have been trying to find a starting point or something to get me going this week. I would love to win this giveaway but if I don’t I might just buy it anyway. Thanks for sharing this with us. Blessings to you and your famliy.

  193. Nicole Thiesen June 6, 2010 at 6:45 pm #

My favorite way to memorize Scripture is to sing it. I sing Michael Cards’ “Barocha” blessing from Numbers 24 to both my boys every night and I’ve greatly enjoyed learning various Psalms set to music. I would love to have another way to learn and know more Scripture both for myself and for my sons.

  194. Jen June 6, 2010 at 6:43 pm #

We’ve been using the book, “My ABC Bible Verses”, which has a similar concept of memorizing a verse for each letter of the alphabet. In fact, this CD uses a lot of the same verses as the book. This CD would be great to reinforce the verses we have already learned and help us learn new ones!

  195. Kristie A. June 6, 2010 at 6:39 pm #

My two little kids would love this CD. We enjoy using music to memorize Scripture and I am always looking for more!

  196. Tiffany June 6, 2010 at 6:37 pm #

My kids and I make up hand motions. My 3 yr old had memorized 2 Tim. 3:16-17!!

  197. Rebeccah June 6, 2010 at 6:30 pm #

I grew up memorizing verses to song…and they’re still with me! Often when I hear a verse I memorized that way, I can’t help singing it. And I’d love the same for my kids. We’re all music lovers, so to have good, quality music with verses for our children to learn would be just wonderful! We’ve just started memory verses with our almost two year old, every night at the dinner table we work on one. It’s so fun to watch her pick it up!

  198. Melanie June 6, 2010 at 6:18 pm #

I recently purchased Steve Green’s “Hide em in your Heart” CD’s and my 3 year old loves them! I would love to have more great scripture songs to add our music library. We listen to them in the car and when he’s playing.

  199. Emily Murray June 6, 2010 at 6:18 pm #

I posted the giveaway on facebook too!

  200. Jennifer June 6, 2010 at 6:18 pm #

We like to do funny motions that help us remember difficult words in the verse.

I’d love to receive this CD because I need help teaching my son scripture!! This sounds fabulous!

  202. Nikki June 6, 2010 at 6:13 pm #

We need all the help we can get! We love fun things that make remembering easier!

  203. Josephine June 6, 2010 at 6:12 pm #

Oh, it has been on my heart recently to start teaching my 2 year-old daughter to memorize scripture! This has just been a thought and I had no idea where to begin. This is perfect in timing and will help me teach my daughter scripture! Thank you for the opportunity!

  204. Susan Mitchell June 6, 2010 at 5:58 pm #

I homeschool my children and I’m teaching my first year of music at our local Christian school. I’m looking for songs/music that will excite and engage the kids, who are 5-11 years old, and also bring glory to God. I can’t think of a better way to do that than helping them memorize scripture!! I would love to use this CD with my own children and also the children at the school.

    • Jenn B June 6, 2010 at 7:09 pm #

we’ve done just rote memorization mostly with our kids, but songs they’ve heard in children’s church stick with them SO much more (especially the “address”) and are sung throughout the day….i’ll admit the verses they sing at church are the ones i know best as well!

  205. Claire rembis June 6, 2010 at 5:58 pm #

For the older kids, we write verses on tape (1 for each week) and stick it up on the wall. We use masking tape which peels off nicely. We do have in incentives!!! If the children can memorize the weekly verse without looking, they get a $1.00 bonus. If, at the end of 5 weeks, they can recite each verse without looking, they earn a $5 bonus bonus ;-)

  206. clbeyer June 6, 2010 at 5:56 pm #

My three year old has really benefitted from Steve Green’s “Hide ‘Em in Your Heart” albums, but I think he would really enjoy something fresh. I would love to hear this couple’s approach to Bible verse songs! What a wonderful way to enjoy God’s word!

  207. Brittany June 6, 2010 at 5:43 pm #

i would love this cd so that my son can hide Gods Word in his heart. my desire is that his life would bring glory to God “How can a young man keeps his way pure? By guarding it according to your word.” Psalm 119:9

  208. Sheri June 6, 2010 at 5:40 pm #

I think song is the best way to memorize almost anything, so this cd sounds really cool! I want to start teaching scripture to my little guys so I would love to win!

  209. Jenn June 6, 2010 at 5:39 pm #

We like the Charlotte Mason way. A gentle repeating of the whole passage over days or weeks until it is committed to memory.

  210. Kristen June 6, 2010 at 5:33 pm #

Hand motions to the words really helps our kids!

  211. Tiffany June 6, 2010 at 5:26 pm #

What a wonderful giveaway! I think the best way to memorize scripture is indeed through songs! We have a Seeds of Worship that my children sing – each song is a different Bible verse as well!

  212. Twila June 6, 2010 at 5:24 pm #

Scripture memorization is something I would like to incorporate into our homeschooling schedule and this would be a fantastic tool to use!

  213. Barbara June 6, 2010 at 4:53 pm #

Our favorite tip for memory work is to practice in the car…everyone gets to say one word, with the big ones whispering to the little until they get it. The kids also go to sleep to scripture music. Thanks for offering the CD.

  214. mrs. doodle June 6, 2010 at 4:36 pm #

posted it on my FB account and I went ahead and ordered it on iTunes… if I win I will gift it to someone. I LOVE it!

  215. Leah June 6, 2010 at 4:33 pm #

My daughter is only 9 months old but I would love this for her! I think the best way to learn scripture is to put it to music. I still know a bunch of verses because of tapes I listened to when I was little (G.T. and the Halo Express). Also, posting them around the house is helpful too!

  216. Laura Marsman June 6, 2010 at 4:33 pm #

I’ve always used flash cards and repetition but I think music will be a great way to encourage my 10 month old son as he grows!

  217. Sarah :) June 6, 2010 at 4:29 pm #

I love memorizing scripture by singing! I still remember Bible songs I listened to (over and over and over again) as a kid. This cd would be a great start to out Bible music collection :)

  218. mrs. doodle June 6, 2010 at 4:27 pm #

I really want to work on learning scripture with my daughter… I want to do it with her. She LOVES music and this would be a perfect thing for us to listen to together – at home and in the car.

  222. Amber June 6, 2010 at 3:51 pm #

I always act out my kids memory verses, so that the younger ones can act them out, and my oldest just remembers my motions in his head (he said!) We would LOVE this!!

  223. Michelle D. June 6, 2010 at 3:51 pm #

I memorize scriptures with good ole’ 3×5 cards! My boys both have autism and they learn their scripture through music. What they learn from music! Thanks for the chance to win this CD!
    It sounds GREAT!

  224. Esther June 6, 2010 at 3:32 pm #

We have been very successful at memorizing verses by choosing one and repeating it once before mealtime prayers. When we’re consistent our 3yo has the verse memorized within a few days and our 21month old repeats most of the verse within a week. I like to stick with the verse a second week to reinforce and help all of us remember the verse longer.

  225. emily June 6, 2010 at 3:23 pm #

the best way for us to memorize without music is a Charlotte Mason memory box system -check out the website http://simplycharlottemason.com/timesavers/memorysys/

I’m in charge of preschool music at our church and am always looking for great music and love it when it’s scripture. our favorites are the Seeds CD’s (all volumes); Steve Green Hide Em In Your Heart; and for memorizing the children’s catechism (which i think is the next best thing to scripture bc it helps you understand the scripture) is Diana Beach’s Who Made You songs (verbatim catechism Q and A if you are trying to memorize)-you can order it here http://www.askmewhooo.com/home.html

    thanks!
    emily

  226. Monica June 6, 2010 at 3:18 pm #

We memorize scripture by using note cards with the verse on one side and the address on the other. We have one verse for every letter of the alpahbet.

  227. Becky June 6, 2010 at 3:18 pm #

We use the Charlotte Mason scripture memory system: http://simplycharlottemason.com/timesavers/memorysys/.

I’m a dance teacher and started a Christian Dance program for kids… I use the same technique with my twins as I do with my students. We use movement and tell the story (or verse) with our bodies.

I tweeted it too. My Twitter name is mrscchowds.

  230. Ruth Chowdhury June 6, 2010 at 2:59 pm #

I usually memorize verses by visualizing them like they are on the page, or saying them dramatically. I have one kids’ CD of Scripture songs & I find that is a very easy way to learn as well. Another thing I have done is put signs or motions to them. I’d love to have this CD! Thanks!

  231. adrianne June 6, 2010 at 2:46 pm #

I love using music to learn scripture. It may just be snippets but some is better than nothing!

  232. Becki June 6, 2010 at 2:40 pm #

Also, shared on Facebook! Thanks….might just have to get this CD regardless…

  233. Becki June 6, 2010 at 2:39 pm #

Music is by far my best tip for memorizing. Each week, because of AWANA, my kids (and thus, me too) memorize at least 7 verses. The only way to keep them all straight is by making up songs and rhythms and motions to go with them.

  234. Cori June 6, 2010 at 2:27 pm #

I am not very good about memorizing scripture, but really want to make that a priority in my life, especially now that I am a mother. I have a 15 month old who LOVES music, what a great way to expose her the God’s Word!

  235. Kim June 6, 2010 at 2:24 pm #

My favorite tip for memorizing verses is to work on it a little each day. If you make it part of your routine, it really gets ingrained.

I have a 19 month old and I want to win this prize because I really want to help him hide God’s word in his heart.

  236. Gina June 6, 2010 at 2:21 pm #

  238. Nicole June 6, 2010 at 2:18 pm #

I love listening to music in order to memorize. The other way is just writing it on a note card and putting it a place that I will see.

  239. Sarah Robbins June 6, 2010 at 2:16 pm #

I would love to win this! We just found out we are expecting and I have been looking for fun songs to play in our baby’s nursery. I have found that putting verses to music, or putting them in popular places on index cards helps me to memorize them.

  240. Gina June 6, 2010 at 2:16 pm #

We would LOVE this CD! We’re always on the lookout for great God-honoring kids music and I must say that I remember just about all the bible verse songs I learned from GT and the Halo Express when I was little.

  241. lindsey June 6, 2010 at 1:54 pm #

We don’t really have any specific way to memorize.

  242. Beth Michaels June 6, 2010 at 1:52 pm #

My favorite way of memorizing scripture, and what I find to be most effective is to picture and envision it as I would imagine the writer to speak it–the heart posture, tone, and passion and visual association I make is what causes the words to come alive as they are so strongly associated and tied together! I often picture Jesus speaking with more or less passion, gentleness, or authority than is usually conveyed when scripture is read aloud : )

  243. Tracy G. June 6, 2010 at 1:52 pm #

Steve Green did a couple of tapes many years ago, and thankfully our vehicle still has a cassette tape player. (I haven’t looked at the title in a long time; just habitually put them in, but I think they are called “Hide ‘Em in your Heart.”) Among other things, we listen to those tapes periodically in the van. Hearing Scripture that is set to music is the fastest way my children memorize. They were excited when they came across a verse in AWANA that they already knew!

  244. Mrs. Pear June 6, 2010 at 1:42 pm #

I think the biggest thing is being deliberate and being consistent!

We have a Bible memory book we are working through and we just work on it a little bit each morning after breakfast Bible time. Sometimes it is humbling that my 4 year old has the verse by Tuesday and I am still struggling on Friday! :-)

  245. gina June 6, 2010 at 1:38 pm #

Oh wow…what a neat way to help our children hide God’s word in their hearts! I would love this CD!!!!

  246. Mandi June 6, 2010 at 1:29 pm #

I also wrote about the giveaway on my fam webpage.

  247. Jessica @ Life as I See It June 6, 2010 at 1:24 pm #

I would love to win this for my 2 and 3 year old boys! We really enjoy the Seeds Family Worship cds right now for helping with memory work and I love the idea of the verse being recited at the beginning of the song and also the revealing theme throughout the verses.

    Thanks!

  248. Rebecca June 6, 2010 at 1:16 pm #

Another tool to help my son, husband, and I learn verses would be wonderful! My tip: I have 7 category papers hung up along the top of our dining room wall (anger, disobedience, fear, impatience, lying, selfishness, defiance, complaining–all things we struggle with daily), and under each are 8 1/2 x 11 papers (5-6 per category), each with a relevant verse printed on it. About 6 months ago, I hung them there and started reading them to my son as he ate his meals. He just turned 2 last week, and not only can he complete many of them as I read them, but he ASKS me to read them as we eat our meals and snacks at the table throughout the day. Our “dining room” is really just an extension of our living room, as we’re in an apartment, so it also helps me throughout the day to look up and read them as reminders for my son or for me. Two that he’s actually responded to in the past week or so are “A fool always loses his temper, but a wise man holds it back” when he’s having a tantrum (he will sometimes actually calm down!) and “Children, be obedient to your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord.” Sorry for the super-long comment–just seeing my son internalizing and understanding (not just memorizing) these verses lately has got me pretty excited!

  249. Emily June 6, 2010 at 1:11 pm #

I have always struggled to memorize, and the ONLY thing that ever really worked was setting the verses to music. So I love this idea, and would enjoy singing them with my kids!

  250. Mandi June 6, 2010 at 1:00 pm #

One tip that has been really helpful for me to personally memorize scripture it to make a little scripture memory box. I use a file card box and divide it up. Then I write the reference on one side of a file card and the verse on the other. If things are going well I go through the cards hopefully daily and and try to remember it throughout the day.

  251. Cara June 6, 2010 at 12:52 pm #

I would love to win this. We are planning to start homeschooling this fall and have been looking for some biblical supplements to our curriculum.

i would love this CD because we are going to be getting two foster children soon (with hopes of adopting!) and when i think about the ways that i want to teach and raise my future children, scripture memory is very high on the list.

  255. Angela June 6, 2010 at 12:34 pm #

That CD sounds great, our favorite tip for memorizing scripture is to review it at meal times. It is easy to build into the meal routine, and offers 3X a day to review the scripture

  256. Sharmista June 6, 2010 at 12:33 pm #

Music is such a great way to memorize scripture! I like to print off copies and put them around the house. We’ve also put the verse up on the wall in the bathroom so my readers can work on it then too. lol

  257. Tonia June 6, 2010 at 12:11 pm #

Singing the verses to music is the best way for us to memorize scripture. The hardest part for me is learning the reference. We love the Songs for Saplings CD that we purchased after seeing it on here. We would love some new verses to learn!

  258. Amy June 6, 2010 at 12:09 pm #

We listen to bible verse songs in our car. Our favorites are Seeds Family Worship and The Rizers(they are a band from Mars Hill in Seattle). We have them all memorized though so we need some more.

  259. elizabeth June 6, 2010 at 12:06 pm #

Music is definitely the easiest way I’ve found to memorize Scripture (or anything else, for that matter). You can learn a passage of Scripture without effort if it is put to music!

  260. Michelle Z. June 6, 2010 at 11:59 am #

This sounds great. Exactly what my 4 and 2 year old (as well as my husband and I) need!

My kids are great memorizers but only if we are diligent! So, that is my tip. Repetition. I know my family would get hours of enjoyment from this CD. I hope I win because if I don’t I might just have to buy it!!!

  265. Erin June 6, 2010 at 11:43 am #

I would love this CD for when I have kids!!

  266. Erin June 6, 2010 at 11:43 am #

We love music to remember verses. I love Bible memory songs, and I figure you can’t go wrong with lots and lots of Truth! This CD looks great!

I also like Hide ‘em in Your Heart – 2 CD/DVD set by Steve Green, Seeds Family Worship, and Colin Buchanan’s Bible Memory songs – one CD is called “Baa Baa Doo Baa Baa” and the other is “Boom Chicka Boom”. Those CDs you have to order from his website, he is from Australia, and his stuff is really good. The Hide ‘em in Your Heart and Seeds Family Worship are available from cbd.com.

I like the hint in a previous comment about using the first letter of each word as a hint. Maybe I can use that when my kids get older! :)

Thanks for another great resource to share Jesus with our kids!

  267. shana June 6, 2010 at 11:41 am #

my kids can memorize music (and thus, scripture set to music) like nobody’s business, so i would love to have this cd so they can add even more verses (and songs) to their little brains!
    thanks,
    shana

  268. Erin June 6, 2010 at 11:39 am #

I’m a musician, so putting Scripture to music is ALWAYS how I learn it best! The first Scripture my oldest (now 4) memorized was Joshua 1:9 to the tune of Frosty The Snowman. :)

I would love, love, love, love this CD for my 3 boys and I!

  269. emily hope June 6, 2010 at 11:36 am #

we love using songs as well as old-fashioned “copywork” (writing out the verses) to help us hide them in our hearts :)

  270. Jeannie June 6, 2010 at 11:19 am #

Our favorite scripture memorization tip is to write out the first letter of each word of the verse, then quiz ourselves over and over and over until we can recite it without even the first letter of the word.

For example: “For, if you have not be trustworthy in handling the worlds wealth, who will trust you with true riches.” Luke 16:11

    Would look like this: “f, i y h n b t i h t w w, w w t y w t r.” Luke 16:11

We have flash cards as well.

  272. Angela June 6, 2010 at 10:58 am #

Don’t see my last comment so I’ll try again. Since our triplets are only 20months old they are just starting to sing with me…I want to teach them songs that have deeper meaning of who God and our Lord Jesus are than Jesus Loves Me and He’s Got the whole world in His Hands. With my older kiddos for the summer we’re doing a daily scripture journal with an application part for them to do on their own and then we’ll talk about it as well.

  273. Angela June 6, 2010 at 10:54 am #

This is music to my ears. Our triplets are 20months old and starting to sing ABC, Wheels on the Bus, and just today Jesus Loves Me…But I’m running out of songs that really teach my children about Jesus and how much God loves them. I want to feed their souls. This is a Huge tool for our family. Thanks so much for sharing this with us!

  274. Hannah T. June 6, 2010 at 10:19 am #

This sounds like such a fun cd! My girls have been memorizing scripture since they were super little (around 2), but the best tool we’ve found to keep all these scriptures fresh is the Scripture Memory System explained on Simply Charlotte Mason.com http://simplycharlottemason.com/timesavers/memorysys/ There’s no cost – just a method of learning new verses and keeping the “old” ones in constant rotation so you don’t forget!

  277. Rachel O. June 6, 2010 at 10:12 am #

I’m a visual learner so I work well with flashcards! Also, writing and rewriting the scripture helps me to really sink the words in. (I can be reached at greatnarf [at] gmail [dot] com)

Oh goodness! I’ve wanted a cd like this. The Bible verses I know the best were learned from song — Steve Greene Hide ‘em in your Heart! I want my kids to know God’s word and I think the best way is definitely by song. We just started learning the alphabet so this is PERFECT!

We repeat passages over and over again until we (myself and 2 girls (4 y/o, 2 1/2) have it memorized. First thing in the morning, at each meal, a few times during the day, and at bedtime. Before I know it, they are saying it along with me. They memorized John 1:1-18 this way, among others

We try to memorize 1 Scripture verse each week with my 2 year old daughter. We make a game out of it, having her parrot it back until she feels comfortable with it, and we go over any words she doesn’t understand, talk about how it applies to our lives, etc. Then, we make sure to repeat it at least once a day for the next week. By the end, she typically has it memorized easily. I love giving the gift of God’s Word to my children; it was not something I was raised with.

  290. Erin T June 6, 2010 at 8:25 am #

We also love using music to memorize scripture, and the children love pleasing Daddy with their new bits of recitable wisdom! His enthusiasm is a great incentive.

Our favorite way to learn Bible verses is through music, the kids love it! Thanks for offering the giveaway!

  293. Tammy June 6, 2010 at 7:48 am #

I was intrigued by your post, because this is the exact thing that I feel the Lord has been impressing upon my heart…scripture memorization. Renewing my mind with the truth is absolutely crucial in my life right now and I need all the help i can get!! The first thing i do when i get in the car is turn on the radio…it would be great to turn on some music that will also help me hide God’s Word in my heart! Thanks for the opportunity!

  294. Ebie June 6, 2010 at 7:43 am #

i love music for kids, we used to listen to agape land, GT and the halo express and odyssey, and i still remember some of the scripture songs.

  296. Maryanne June 6, 2010 at 7:41 am #

When I was growing up we listened to GT and the Halo Express. When my son is a little older we will listen to them together. Great verses put to music. I still remember some of them from so many years ago!

  297. Denise Porter June 6, 2010 at 7:41 am #

My daughter (she’s 4) was learning memory verses for the “U B David I’ll B Jonathan” organization (The Mailbox Club). We were in Walmart and she insisted on telling the cashier her verses!!! I was a bit embarrassed but realized that I shouldn’t have felt that way at all. Out of the mouths of babes…. She could evangelize the entire store with 26 verses to repeat!

I’ve been wanting a good Scripture verse CD for my girls. I think this would be a great way for them to learn. They’re still young (4 & 2 and brother 2 months) so we haven’t really memorized verses too much but those we know are set to song.

  299. Heather June 6, 2010 at 7:34 am #

We use “My ABC Bible Verses” by Susan Hunt but a CD for in the car and while working in the kitchen together would be fantastic!

  300. Emily June 6, 2010 at 7:33 am #

Our 1.5 year old has just started singing songs, and learning the words, and asking for music in the car. We have been actively looking for Christian kiddie-friendly songs for her to learn, rather than just mother goose rhymes and such. This sounds great!

  301. Jessica Lovett June 6, 2010 at 7:12 am #

    I just Facebooked the giveaway.

  302. Jessica Lovett June 6, 2010 at 7:10 am #

We would absolutely love this CD! I have a couple of audiobook Bible stories for my 2-year-old and it is a joy to hear his tiny voice speaking such heavy-with-meaning words… The funniest instance, I think, was when I was washing dishes and he came toddling into the kitchen and said, very seriously, “You’ve made my house a den of robbers!” That was shockingly out of context of the moment, lol…

We have another little one due next month and I’d love to fill our house with scripture:)

  303. Shannon H. June 6, 2010 at 6:54 am #

What a wonderful tool to hide the Word of our Lord in our children’s hearts!! We always try to set whatever scripture we are memorizing to song. It makes it a lot easier to learn and it is more fun to do our work when we are singing the scriptures!

  304. Kristen June 6, 2010 at 6:45 am #

Post it notes and songs help me to memorize scripture!

I don’t have any tips. When I was a kid in Awana I learned so many verses, but since then I’ve mostly had good intentions with no follow through. I think I need this CD! :)

  308. Kim June 6, 2010 at 6:30 am #

I am always looking for ways for the children to learn more Scripture. The older children are in AWANA and it has been a real help for the children to memorize the Word.

  309. Stephanie June 6, 2010 at 6:28 am #

Music has been a wonderful tool to write God’s Word upon our hearts. We love our Seeds CD’s, as well as the Sing the Word CD that is a part of our school curriculum. When we want to use scripture to instruct or remind our children of something, we can hum, sing, or speak the words of a few bars, and they can immediately recall the entire verse. It’s amazing!

  310. jeana June 6, 2010 at 6:18 am #

We love to write it down, use pictures to help our son with special needs, and sing them. So, this would be a great cd to add to our scripture memory time!

    Also posted this on FB.

  312. Misty June 6, 2010 at 6:12 am #

I am enjoying reading all of the ideas so far. I don’t do a very good job of teaching my 3 year old how to memorize scripture. It is a discipline I am just getting a grip on myself. But she learns everything by song and I am so grateful to know about this CD! We have several Seeds Family Worship CD’s as well I love them and have learned a lot of scriptures from them already. She is not quite ready for them though as she still really loves songs with more of a nursery rhyme feel. I think she would love the A-Z connection. I would love to win a copy but even if I don’t I will be adding this to my wish list. Thanks!

  313. Thea June 6, 2010 at 6:01 am #

For a while, I tucked Scripture-filled note cards into my pockets whenever I went walking with my baby daughter, and I found that to be a great time for memorizing verses. Now that she’s older, we talk a lot more as we walk, so I haven’t settled into a new routine yet, but I think she’s just getting to the point where we could begin to memorize things together. And a CD like this would be tremendously helpful! I may just buy a copy if I don’t win one.

  314. Amy June 6, 2010 at 5:57 am #

I have two little ones and would love to win this cd to help encourage them to memorize scripture!

i’m looking for a great way to memorize scripture to our boys in next year’s curriculum…but why wait until september to start? i’d love this cd for just that purpose now! :)

  316. Debra June 6, 2010 at 5:40 am #

If we repeat scripture 7 times they say, it will be hidden in our heart. What a great way to make it easy and enjoyable to add song in the process.

  318. Erika June 6, 2010 at 5:29 am #

I would love this CD for my children. Music is an awesome and relaxing way to learn together. Thanks for the opportunity.

  319. Amy June 6, 2010 at 5:28 am #

Song is definitely the best way our family learns Scripture. My three year old just loves music and he has already memorized many verses put to song! This CD would be a wonderful addition to our music library!

  320. Jaime June 6, 2010 at 5:24 am #

I love to make up actions to help remember bible verses. You can use a mix in some sign language. It helps kids connect the words to meaning as well. I would love to have this CD to immerse my 7 month old in God’s word.

  321. Beth June 6, 2010 at 5:16 am #

There are many scriptures i remember because they are in song. I may not always know the scripture verse, but i have the words hidden in my heart because they were put to music. I would love to win this c.d. so share with my God-children. What a wonderful tool!

  322. Kayla June 6, 2010 at 5:10 am #

We currently have a verse for the week with our two three year olds. We say it at bedtime and throughout the day. One of the things that that God has been convicting my heart on is the need for the Holy Spirit to convict my children’s heart and putting Scripture in their heart is one way to do so.

  323. Hannah Beth June 6, 2010 at 5:07 am #

Do you know that one of the greatest commands that King of kings have given us parents is to diligently teach our children God’s commandments? He even tells us to write them on the posts of our house (Deut 6:4-9) I have found that writing out scripture helps me commit it to memory. I like to post encouraging, uplifting, and even convicting scripture around my house on bathroom mirrors, the fridge, for my whole family to read and start memorizing. I find myself inadvertently learning the verse just by seeing it around the house. It is even a blessing to those visiting my house.

  324. Karissa June 6, 2010 at 5:07 am #

We love the word of God and are always lookiing for good contemporary kids music that reflects that. Kids music shouldn’t have to be something that grates our nerves because of the lack of musical depth. Thanks for sharing their music!

  325. Caitlin Steng June 6, 2010 at 5:01 am #

My favorite tool to help my children memorizing verses is flashcards and songs such as Word and Song bible. We ordered the Seeds Family Worship cd’s after reading about them here and LOVED them!! I would love to win this cd because my kids really love music and Mama really loves the truth in the music. :)

  326. HilaryH June 6, 2010 at 5:00 am #

This CD sounds awesome! I would love it to help teach my 2yr old more scripture. To memorize scripture we say our scriptures throughout the day and at night time. My son repeats me and has learned 3already! We also have videotaped him saying these scriptures and he likes to watch himself over and over!

  327. Sarah M June 6, 2010 at 4:56 am #

This sounds like such an awesome resource. We are a big “singing” family (lullabies, scripture, song books, etc.) and this would be great for us! We love singing bible verses with our night-time prayers.
    Thanks for the offer!

  329. Jessica Brammer June 6, 2010 at 4:46 am #

I would love this cd because at the moment we have no scripture memory going on at all. This would be extremely helpful for my two boys who love music and love to sing!

  330. Brooke June 6, 2010 at 4:39 am #

I would love to have this CD for my daughter. She loves music and scripture set to music works! She remembers the scripture from songs and it makes me smile to hear her singing God’s word! I also like the idea that this CD has different kinds of music. Thank you for letting me know about this CD!

  331. Nicole June 6, 2010 at 4:38 am #

I would love to win this CD! I never grew up learning scripture by heart, and it is one of the things I would love for my 2 year old daughter to start learning. She loves to sing, so this would be a great way to introduce it to her!

  332. Shanena June 6, 2010 at 4:38 am #

I actually put scripture to music. Not professionally or even anything repeatable. :) Just say it to a tune that makes it more memorable

  333. Heather June 6, 2010 at 4:31 am #

We are new (very) Christians and are learning how to incorporate scripture into our daily lives. We would love this CD – it would be great for both the kids and I to learn together.

  334. Carla June 6, 2010 at 4:30 am #

I would love this! I am pitiful at memorizing scripture and because of that I never do it with my children. My son loves loves loves music, so he would latch on to this way of memorization!

    Thanks for a great giveaway!

I would love to have this CD for my son! He loves loves loves music and memorizes songs so quickly. The best way we’ve found for exposing him to Scripture is through books that contain verses, because he will recite books all day long. Thanks for posting about this cd!

  337. lindsey June 6, 2010 at 4:18 am #

i loved the Hide em in your heart CD growing up and learned all kinds of scripture that way. I’d love this CD for my kids – and for me!

  338. Vanessa June 6, 2010 at 4:12 am #

We don’t have babes quite yet, but my husband and I have been talking about how we intend to raise them up to follow Christ when they come. One of the most helpful things for me as a child was learning scripture verses and bible stories set to music. We agree that this would be an excellent way to teach our children (and ourselves!) scripture.

  339. Joy Y. June 6, 2010 at 4:10 am #

All the tips above are basically what we do: a mix of singing, repeating, and sometimes writing on a dry erase board, erasing one word at a time…until they have it mastered!

  340. Kristen S June 6, 2010 at 4:09 am #

I would love to win this giveaway because neither of my children can read yet, and this is a great way to imprint scripture on their hearts while they are young. Thanks for the giveaway!

  341. Margo June 6, 2010 at 4:00 am #

I just posted about the giveaway on my FB page also!

  342. Margo June 6, 2010 at 3:59 am #

We sing scripture!! I just make up little songs to go with verses and my 4 boys love it!!! There is nothing like hearing your three year old walking around singing, “Rejoice, in the Lord always!” I would love to add this cd to our collection!

  343. Debbie June 6, 2010 at 3:51 am #

Our 3 1/2 year old son seems to have a great memory. My husband and I have read or recited Psalm 1 several times to him, and he can say most of it without help! It’s even better when things are set to music – he picks them up after just a couple times through. I would love to win this CD.

  344. Rose June 6, 2010 at 3:51 am #

This is so great! I’ve been looking for something like this!!

  346. Liz June 6, 2010 at 3:46 am #

Just posted this on facebook! Hope I win. Love listening to new Christian music with the kids.

We have fun all day memorizing awana verses and just repeat them all day. Turn them into songs.

  348. Marcie W June 6, 2010 at 3:43 am #

My kids love the Hide em in Your Heart CDs and DVDs put out by Steve Green. It really is amazing how quickly they learn the verses are able to recall them throughout the day. For example, if they are complaining and I tell them that God loves a cheerful heart. They’ll say “yes, the Bible says to everything without arguing and complaining,” Too precious! :)

  349. Sue Mitchell June 6, 2010 at 3:37 am #

We have 5 boys and post Bible verses on their beds on 3×5 cards. Each night, we go around to each bed and each child says the verse to us. We usually keep saying one verse for one week. By that time, they have it memorized. Right now, they each have about 10 or 15 verses surrounding them while they sleep! I feel like they are learning the verses and tucking them away in their hearts.

  350. Amy June 6, 2010 at 3:36 am #

I receive daily Scripture from KLOVE and read it over a few times in the morning.

  351. Jessica B June 6, 2010 at 3:27 am #

We love using music to help our children (and us) memorize scripture.

  352. Leigh June 6, 2010 at 3:13 am #

We use music and word games to help learn Bible verses, and we also post the verse we’re working on all over the house! It helps me memorize it, and each time my 4 yo looks at it, he repeats the verse to me – even though he can’t read, it’s a great visual aid!

  353. meghan June 6, 2010 at 2:47 am #

We use a system with our 3 and 5 year old inspired by this: http://simplycharlottemason.com/timesavers/memorysys/ We spend 5-10 min. each morning at breakfast. It has worked really well.

  354. Megan Southwell June 6, 2010 at 2:41 am #

I read it out loud repeatedly. It still isn’t easy, but it works. I would LOVE to have this CD.

  355. Tania June 6, 2010 at 2:01 am #

Honestly, I don’t have any tips. I am struggling to figure out how to work this into our daily lives and would love a copy of the cd becuase my kids love music and I think it would really help them memorize scripture.
