Roast Your Own Coffee Beans

fresh-roasted-popper.pngLove the taste of fresh-roasted coffee but don’t feel like shelling out $100+ for your own home roaster? The Cool Tools weblog details how to use an old popcorn popper (the author bought his for $3 at a thrift store) to roast your coffee beans. His method, which works virtually the same way as popping popcorn with the gadget, is simple, and the results look promising. Looks like a fun activity to experiment with, especially if you are an avid coffee drinker!

Oh, wow! My husband has been looking at ordering freshly roasted coffee, delivered to our door… I’m going to try this ASAP. THANK YOU!

Actually, my husband wants to grow his own coffee, cacao, etc… :-)

    Blessings,
    Kimarie

my hubby modded a roaster out of a whirly popper and a japanese roasting over. He can roast a lb or so at a time. We did purchase a popper off of ebay and that was fine but it didn’t roast as much at a time as Jason would’ve liked.

Roasted coffee is amazing as well btw. It’s difficult to buy a cup out since it’s so good!

We’ve been doing this for nearly a year, works fantastic! saves us a ton of money. too funny because we also spent $3 on our popcorn maker at a yard sale. We drink Espresso (husband) and lattes (me) We couldn’t find beans fresh enough for great tasting espresso. We love it!

Never seen it done in a popcorn popper till now lol. You can also roast coffee in your oven and I think it tastes best freshly roasted and freshly ground! I don’t drink coffee that much anymore but used to be an avid coffee drinker! ; )
