We are excited to announce that our new blog design is live! Welcome to the new and improved Passionate Homemaking – a place where you can be inspired to live a more natural, simple and intentional life as a wife, mother, and homemaker. We have redesigned the site to make it more clean, simple, and easy to navigate. We hope you find this useful!
The drop down navigation above will give you access to all the resources we have compiled for this site, including recipes, natural living links, local food sources (for those in the PDX area), and my recommended reading lists (including my lists from 2008, 2009 and the lastest 2010). You will find updated simplified category buttons on the right, and a new tab box below it including our most popular posts, the latest posts, and recent comments. We will also be adding my twitter feed here eventually. Our site is now really easy to subscribe to with our new social media buttons!
We wish to give a hearty thanks to Katie at Flibby Pie Design for her kind assistance in designing our new look. It was an absolute pleasure working with this young woman! My husband, Aaron, as well deserves my undying love and thanks for his faithfulness in being my web developer and making everything work! I love him so!
Please let us know if you find anything on the new site that does not work…as there are still a few kinks and bugs. We also love to hear your feedback! Take a minute to look around and let us know what you think!
Thank you to all our lovely readers for your continued support and encouragement! It has been a rich blessing!
What do you like? What do you not like? What would you like to see added?
Cool! I just miss your blogroll – kind of similar blogs to browse. Do you still have it somewhere?
Love the new look on the website but I am having a hard time finding your list of recipes. I like to be able to go back to particular recipes but don’t want to have to scroll through every recipe just to find the one I want. Am I missing something?
Thanks
Check out the drop down navigation above – its under the “Resources” tab.
Hi, I read your blog on my iPhone, and I am finding this new look much less tidy to navigate. Just thought I’d give you the heads up.
Yah, my hubby is working on the iPhone look. I noticed yesterday that it is a bit messy. Sorry!
Thanks for the heads up Christine. Go ahead and try it again. I think all of the issues have been resolved.
LOVE the new look!
Nice but I miss the book list section. I liked seeing what you were reading this year. It inspired me to read books that I might have missed.
It’s all still there! Check it out under the resource tab above. We have updated it to include all my reading lists from previous years.
It's beautiful! Great!
One question for you: please define what you mean by “intentional living”. I'm not familiar with the expression and it seems to me like everything we as people do is with intent, so I'm just not sure what that phrase means or how it defines what you share on your blog. Thanks!
By “intentional” I mean purposeful God-centered, missional living. Maybe the term needs to be tweeked. My hope is to continue to use this blog to inspire women to be intentional in every action in their homes – to cultivate relationships, serve others, and open their homes to minister to the lost and needy around them. I may call it “missional” living. I think this post sums it up my purpose in including “intentional” in my byline: What is the Purpose of the Home?
Thank you for that explanation! That makes sense to me now. And you really are inspiring women like me to do all of those things with a heart for serving Christ, I’m so thankful!
Very classy, I love the simplicity!

Wow, girl. It looks GREAT!!! I really love it. Just one question – I’m behind in the blog world, so forgive my ignorance, but – what does it mean that your blog is “live”?
I just meant that the new updated site was up and viewable! We have been working on it for awhile and thus the phrase. Sorry for the confusion.
Ha! I got it. Thought I was just a slow blogger. So excited for your new site.
Love the fresh design!

Nice work!
My 2 cents = I dislike Disquus for comments – it's often buggy when I try to comment and I don't like having to “log in”.
I have to know how long it took to redo your categories – I started that process once and couldn't stomach it.
Katie
love it! it is so fun, cute and neat!
THis is lovely! It looks fantastic — thank you for all you do for us in His name!
I find it refreshing! I like it a lot
Love it! So simple and clean!! Beautiful!! =)
I love the new look! I really like the “like” button and connecting with facebook. Very bright and colorful, eye catching! Oh and I like the search option, its nice to plug in what I'm looking for when I don't have time to find it manually (I reference your blog a lot!). Looks good!!!!
Very fresh and pretty! I like everything except the categories. The font and different font colors are a bit hard to read; it would be easier if they were all one color and one font for the text portions. What I might suggest is that you use those same colors, fonts and text in the header line that has the categories, “Home”, “About”, etc. and use a plain text or less color for the categories section. That would give your more color at the top and accent the header.
Also, at the top, I'd love to see a “Contact” section. I am sure it may be under the “About Me” section but I haven't checked that out yet.
Love your blog. Tried the coconut oil yesterday for baking and I really liked it!
Oh, this is beautiful!!! A lovely, extreme makeover )
Congratulations! Everything looks very nice:)
Very nice!
I like the new look!!!!
Oh I LOVE it!!
I think the new layout really suits your title and mission!
i like the colors, especially the header. i think the use of white helps make the page look clean and easy to navigate. definitely a great move
I like it!! Happy Sunday!
I really enjoyed the posts on making your own body care products and cleaning products. I'd love more!
love it!
Love the new look! Can't wait to browse your new categories!
I love it! It's so fun and bright now!
Is there anyway that you can move your “categories” section above the advertisements. I think that this will make them more easily accessible when you are reading a post because they will be right next to the text that you are reading. I understand that having them higher on the page might be part of the advertisement agreement you have with your sponsors so… it's just a suggestion.
Love the sight though. And if I was having a baby or lived in Portland, I would invite you to be my doula!
So Clean and Simple. I love it!
looks great!
love the fresh new look!!
