Karis and I had great fun this morning baking a few special treats for Daddy for Valentine’s Day, except we decided to bake them early in order to spread the goodness throughout the weekend. Rather than spending money on gifts and such, I have found my sweet hubby appreciates some special food items. Keep his belly full and he is happy! Here are some of our healthy treats!
We made yummy healthy fudge. Can’t go wrong there and it is very delicious! We used honey, coconut oil and cocoa powder and it turned out splendidly. A very easy recipe.
We also made some whole wheat pretzels topped with cinnamon and sugar (sucanat to be exact!). I attempted to shape them into hearts but my attempts did not turn out so well. All the same, they tasted very good!

Do you have any favorite healthy Valentine’s Day recipes or treats?
Where do you buy sucant or rapadura?
I made this last night for dessert & it was EASY AND YUMMY!!!!
Also tastes GREAT with a little glob of peanut butter on it! LOL
Hope you and Baby and all are doing GREAT!!!
I made the fudge yesterday. My kids loved it. I used sucanat instead of honey. It was actually better today. We made the pretzels today although they were not very pretty, they tasted great. Kids loved them as well. Thanks so much for your site!!!
Lindsay, did you soak your flour for the pretzels?
No, I did not soak the flour as it was my first time making those pretzels. I will be experimenting with it in the future though.
I’ve seen that fudge recipe and thought it looked great! I’m so excited that there’s a healthy fudge recipe out there!! I’ll have to try it sometime!
I made the fudge yesterday (valentine’s day) for my husband) (saving the little scraps for me and it turned out great! He is a huge dark chocolate fan, and i would label this more as chocolate squares than fudge (though it is creamy). Anyway just wanted to thank you for the idea. I used honey and wondered if i would like the flavor combo, but it came out perfect! (i did use a little less than a 1/2 C. of honey and it was great) I was out of money for a “gift” and this idea let me use what i had on hand (and it was so fast!) so i was able to give him a little suprise anyway. Just wanted to share my enthusiastic thanks!
I made the pretzels this morning and they turned out great!
I put salt instead of sugar-cinnamon on top because my hubby prefers them this way.
Thank you for sharing!
So, I just made the fudge (by far the most delicious and easy dessert I’ve ever made!) but used cane sugar as I don’t have enough honey. Turned out great, and I heated a small, heart-shaped cookie cutter in hot water and cut them out and put them in a fancy tin for my hubby. Of course, all those nice little leftover pieces are for me! I can’t wait to give them to him in the morning – thanks for the idea!
Thank you for the link to the fudge recipe! I usually make fudge for gifts, but my youngest son is allergic to milk and therefore can’t try it. I will have to try making this for him!
I think your pretzels look great!
I am making that fudge tomorrow, for sure! I am looking forward to trying coconut sugar soon, too!
Did you use coconut sugar or honey? I followed your link to the recipe. I have never even heard of coconut sugar. I’ll have to check the Asian market here in San Diego to see if they carry any of it. I was also wondering where you buy your coconut oil. I just bought some online (amazon), but maybe it would be cheaper if I could find it in a store.
I used honey for the recipe. It worked just fine. I have not used coconut sugar yet either. I buy my coconut oil from Mountain Rose Herbs. They have the best quality for the cheapest price.
I just came across your site! And I’m pretty sure I am going to love it! Can’t wait to come back and read more! I love all your fun categories! I will be back soon!
