A Journey Into Pregnancy & Birth – a great article written by Sarah @ Live Slowly, Live Wildly addressing natural pregnancy! Very thorough coverage of the topic with some great resource recommendations!

First of all, congratulations for your big “little” blessing, growing inside of you! I would also love to have a homebirth, one day. This was something that my husband would have never wanted to witness but praise God, he has seen me watching the Business of Being born (twice now) and other homebirthing stories and is coming around. No children yet, but I’m excited for the future!

After reading the sections on the Wise Traditions site about vegetarianism, I can understand your concerns! I myself have been vegetarian for 7 years now, with no problems. I limit dairy and eggs, but I don’t limit fat and I tend to eat whole foods, a majority of that being raw. I started when I was 19 and am now 26. What I eat has evolved over time, but that is where I have been the past few years. As I begin to read about many peoples experiences with different styles of eating, I believe more and more that each individual is different, in concerns to what kind of food their body thrives on.

Two documents (among many) that have influenced me now and in the past are the China Study and the American Dietetic Association’s Position Paper on Vegetarian Diets. I’m wondering if you have had a chance to skim through either?

Thanks for posting these links! I check the Walk Slowly, Live Wildly blog almost daily and somehow I missed this pregnancy entry! I gobble up stuff like that, and I would have totally missed it!

A really liked the parts about midwifery & homebirth vs. hospitals in the “A Journey into Pregnancy & Birth” article. I do have to say I have MAJOR concerns w/ her vegetarian diet & lack of eating dairy. This is not healthy- see Weston A Price! But, like I said- the beginning of the article was very well written. We are expecting our 6th child and by God’s grace, we will have our 6th homebirth. I can hardly wait… well, except for the hurting part. :) I do so love our homebirths though! :)
