Here are some enjoyable posts that have encouraged me this past week. These are some of my favorite blogs, by the way!
A Wise Woman Builds Her House - a wonderful encouraging post on the joys and reward of being a stay at home wife and mother. There are really no limitations to the joy we can experience! I am at the point where I am loving reading and learning new things about homemaking, health and nutrition. It is so fun to me. It is all about our heart attitude…if we focus on the joy and high calling of it, we with find such delight in the tasks. If we consider it drudgery, we will look elsewhere for happiness, and not be able to find it. She says:
It is always an adventure around here. It doesn’t get dull or boring because I am in control. My days are filled to the brim with exciting possibilities. One minute I am full fledged interior decorator and the next I am Taste of Home’s newest budding chef! Some day’s you can will find me feverishly planning the years events, vacations and parties for our home and the next I’ll spending time teaching myself all I can on the innerworking’s of a church–which, is in my opinion, icing on the cake!
So don’t look at your blessed homes as drudgery, dear mothers and daughters. It’s from the outflow of your heart that will be put into that sacred place. Learn to love your home and the outpouring of that will overflow into the rooms and souls of all who live within it. You will absolutely experience the richness that comes with this abounding opportunity to bless those around you in the greatest journey of your life—living out your dreams with those whom you love most….your family.

Beth at Stewardship not Convenience talks about a helpful hint on housecleaning. Set the clock and get it down in one hour! I was inspired to get back to my routine of scheduling a day to do my housecleaning and just get it done! I decided to do it today and every Saturday morning from now on. I just completed my housework, although it took longer than an hour, probably due to Karis’ interruptions, and the fact that Aaron wasn’t too excited about helping me . I would rather allow him get his to-do list done anyway. By the way, Beth is purposefully seeking to be a good steward, and she is doing a great job on her new blog.
My friend Kimi at Womanly Pursuits shared some important truths about edifying others through our countenance. It was very insightful!
Lastly, GirlTalk has been talking about PostPartum, PMS, and all those varying feelings we women share. I especially appreciated this insightful post on Handling our Feelings. I go through boughts of depression and discouragement during that time of the month, and I tend to be one to just blame my attitude upon my cycle, when I burst out in frustration, anger or tears. It is such a reminder that God supplies the grace for us to take control of these emotions. They shared a quote from Dr. Martin Lloyd Jones:
“Avoid the mistake of concentrating overmuch on your feelings…Above all, avoid the terrible error of making them central. If you put them there you are of necessity doomed to be unhappy because you are not following the order that God himself has ordained…After all, what we have in the Bible is Truth; it is not an emotional stimulus, it is not something primarily concerned to give us a joyful experience. It is primarily Truth, and Truth is addressed to the mind, God’s supreme gift to man; and it is as we apprehend and submit ourselves to truth that the feelings follow.”
Have a wonderful weekend!
