In Honor of My Mother

In honor of this lovely Mother’s Day 2008, I would like to honor my godly mother!

Dear Mother,

What a treasure it has been it be raised by such a godly courageous woman! You have never ceased to amaze me in all the roles and responsibilities you filled in managing our home, taking care of all eight of us children, serving as a helpmate to daddy, and the list goes on. You have been such a beautiful role model to me, and the character of a meek and quiet spirit radiates through your life.

I appreciate now more than ever, since entering motherhood, all the challenges you have faced in learning how to deny yourself in service to your family. There are so many roles to fill and you excelled at them all! Thank you for choosing to stay at home with us, to mother and care for us 24/7, often time with no breaks few periods to yourself. Thank you for hours of instruction in the Word and in our academics, for teaching us at home, even when you felt incapable or lacking in knowledge. Thank you bandaging every wound, and for comforting and praying for us through every sorrow or struggle.

I admire your heart for prayer! Thank you for leading in always reminding us of the importance of this discipline. Thank you for taking every opportunity in the face of any need no matter how great or small to take it to the Lord in prayer. This has planted in me a deep passion for prayer as well, as I watch and follow in your footsteps.

Thank you for your consistency in getting us up in the morning for family devotions. You were always dad’s support and encouragement, keeping us motivating and going! Your faithfulness was so amazing through every challenge you faced with our lack of compliance at times.

You have such a gift of compassion, mercy and hospitality. How graciously and mercifully you stretch out your hands to those who are needy. You take no thought to yourself, but are always seeking to give and meet the needs of others. Your generosity knows no bounds.

I appreciate, admire and honor you mother! Thank you for all you do! What a high calling to now follow in your footsteps as a wife and mother! Thank you for leading the way so strongly and biblically! I am rising up now to praise you, for by God’s grace, you have successed!

Your thankful daughter,

Lindsay Renee

Wonderful post… It’s just too bad that all children (especially adult children!) don’t see fit to honor their mothers on mother’s day!

My mother and I were together, away from home, last year on Mother’s Day and I felt God gave me the opportunity to tell her what an amazing mother she had and has been to me, and to thank her. It was a treasured moment for both of us…
      Great post; thanks.
