Big Thoughts for Little Thinkers Giveaway!

Forty years ago the Lord called Cliff Dudley into the Christian publishing field; upon his death some 20 years ago, He called Cliff’s son Tim into this same field. Tim Dudley has served as president for New Leaf Publishing Group (NLPG) for the past 20 years. Through the power of the printed page, NLPG’s mission is to win the lost to Christ and to bring balance to the body of Christ. Ink on paper to change eternity forever… that is our cause, this is their desire. NLPG offers a wealth of resources on Christian living, theology, homeschooling, creation science, classics, and so much more.

New Leaf Publishing Group offers one unique four-book series titled, Big Thoughts for Little Thinkers. This series discusses topics such as The Gospel, The Mission, The Scripture and The Trinity. The most foundational teachings of the Christian faith are presented in this series at a level preschool and elementary children can understand. In simple and precise language, God-centered theology is promoted, giving children a firm foundation in God’s timeless truth.

We simply love using this series of books with our little ones. They are solid doctrinally, simple, creative, and enjoyable to the eye, and in a cute small format. It is never too early to start teaching your children the value and beauty of the gospel. This set would make a great gift to any family with little ones!

With 3 children under 5 (and another one coming in July!) this would be a great addition to our library and very useful for our evening devotional time!

these books would be a great addition to our family library. we have 4 little boys who we’re raising overseas. it’s tough to find books in english, let alone any that help develop our children’s character and understanding of God. thank you for helping us on the journey!

My husband just discovered these books today on Amazon. What a pleasant surprise to see the giveaway here! We are parents of a 7,6,3 and 1 year old (with #5 on the way). They are full of questions and we are always looking for resources to help bring deep spiritual truths onto their level. Our 6 yr old daughter, especially, will bring up the subject of the trinity often and we have yet to find a way to convince her that God is 3 in 1! Of course, convincing isn’t the goal, rather building faith. We would love to have this resource to use as we teach our little ones to know and follow our Savior!

Thanks for the giveaway…the books are a great way to start off their spiritual journey.

I dont have any children yet, but I am a teacher in a christian nursery. I teach toddlers, infants, and preschool. The majority of the children in my class are from non-christian homes and we are teaching them the gospel everyday as much as possible. Since we are a ministry, not a business, we can always use donations, especially the kind that help plant seeds into the hearts of these young children. We would LOVE to receive these books as another way to teach our kids about the love of Jesus.

  6. Stefanie Mallory January 1, 2011 at 3:29 pm #

I have a daughter that is 1 1/2 now that I want to raise to love Jesus. I know she will have lots of questions and it would be great to have resources available to help me to be able to teach her.

  7. Donna January 1, 2011 at 1:54 pm #

What sweet books. This would be a treasure for us. I have difficulty talking to my kids during our everyday life and would love to have some aids that look so perfectly focused. We usually only talk before, during (to help settle restless people) and after church and since joining the choir, we can sing praise together.

through snuggling and reading together. The one on the Holy Spirit looks especially helpful, since it’s such a hard concept for little ones.

This is the first time I have seen these books and they look like a great resource for teaching our children the basics of the gospel. From looking at the pages you can see in the books it seems that the good news of the Bible is clearly explained here for little ones. Thank you Lindsay for introducing these on your website.

I would love to use them to teach my son when he is old enough to understand (he’s only a month old now) and any more children God gives us. They look like a useful and instructive tool for teaching basic theological truths of the gospel.

  46. Rachel O'Connell December 30, 2010 at 6:41 pm #

Hello! I would love this set because I just today created an invitation to hand out to my daughter’s first grade classmates (3 classes of them) to join us in a bible reading group. This is at a public school, not a private school. My 6yr old has this passion for somehow telling her friends about God so I thought we could just start a reading group at the library and see how it goes?! It’s a bold move for me; for her, she’s got that childlike faith. Last year she wrote a letter in her kindergarten scribble to her teaching asking if she could have some time in class to tell her friends what Jesus has done for her. Of course, she was denied and it was not mentioned to me by the teacher at all; but I love her perseverance! She’s my inspiration! I’d love to have this set to have better wording to share this important message with to the kids that are allowed to come to our group! Thank you!

We are trying to find some books to help our 3 year old son understand about who God is and what He has done for us. It is very difficult to find things that are complete enough to use alone and yet engaging/simple enough for a *very* active 3 yo boy. These look very promising!

I am so blessed to be entrusted with my daughter and hope to have more children. Proverbs 22:6 teaches us to train up a child in the way they should go and when they are old they will not depart from it. This is my goal as a mom. These books teach core doctrinal truths that would greatly aid in training godly children. I would love to have this set in our home!

These books sound like just the thing I have been looking for. My 3 year old daughter is a very bright child and always asking me a ton of questions – while I strive to stay one step ahead sometimes she catches me off gaurd (while I am busy) and it would be nice to look at the book and even go over it with her. Sometimes she wants me to show her where I found the information I am sharing and that somehow makes it so much more believable. I would love to have these books to aide in my quest to raise godly children.

I am a mother of 3 girls under 6 and am always looking for ways to better communicate the Word to them. My oldest is very analytical and I would love to go through these books with her.

  113. Memorey December 29, 2010 at 7:47 pm #

I have an almost four year old who has been asking so many questions recently, like tonight “How was God Jesus’s dad and Mary his mother?” Wow, I would really like a rescource to help me explain things on her level. Not to mention I have an almost three year old and almost two year old who will also benefit from such neat books.

  114. Laura December 29, 2010 at 7:35 pm #

I would love this for my son. He’s almost a year, but I know this would be a very valuable resource to use as he grows.

I love the idea that these books focus on certain topics and they are geared to preschoolers and elementary kids. I have two of my 3 kids that fall into that category and I would love to share these with them and their friends at our local MOPS group. Thanks!

I would like to win these to supplement what we already do with our 2 year old (I am also expecting again in March). I stay home with our daughter and she is a Big thinker always asking us “why” things happen. These books seem like they would be very helpful!

My husband and I are expecting our first child within anytime the next 30 days. I have been searching like mad to find quality Christian books to build a home library for our daughter and any children there after that God sees fit to bless us with. These books look like they are exactly what I have been looking for. Also I think they could be a great tool for my husband as he is a newer believer!

  125. Amy E December 29, 2010 at 4:48 pm #

I love anything I can use to stir a hunger for Gods word in my children. These books look like a fun and simple way to help them understand some of the foundational truths, that can sometimes be hard to explain. Thanks!

  130. Jamie Marsh December 29, 2010 at 1:41 pm #

My husband and I are expecting our first child (a girl!) in April. We were told three years ago that we would never be able to have children on our own apart from medical interventions, and we decided to give the issue completely over to the Lord – if He wanted us to have children He was perfectly capable! We were surprised and overjoyed this summer by our precious news. I know that this child is a blessing from the Lord and belongs to Him alone! Our desire as parents is to raise our child(ren) to be a passionate, fully-devoted follower of Jesus Chrst, dedicated to loving and serving Him with her whole life. We would use these books to start her out on a knowledgeable spiritual journey from a young age.

I would like to use them for my 3 yr. old and my 18 mo. old. I have alot of resources for my two older ones but, not my younger ones. I think it would be really cool to have the one on mission. We are leaving to go to Kazakhstan in about 6 months and that seems that would be encouraging.

We are first generation Christians so I do not have a childhood example of how to help build and encourage the faith of my children from such a young age. Of course I seek the Lord for guidance and strive to lead by example and I have been blessed but these books seem like they would be so helpful in laying that foundation for my little ones. Thank you!

  173. Noelle December 29, 2010 at 6:43 am #

I would love these books to teach my little ones. I became a Christian when I was 12 or so – before that we didin’t even attend church so I have no idea how to explain some of these ideas to my littles. I want so much to build a strong understanding of Gods everlasting love in our home – I hope these books can help me with that.

  174. Cindy December 29, 2010 at 6:21 am #

We have 3 children, ages 5, 3, and 17 months. I am always striving to help them understand in their little world. It’s hard to try to comprehend it as they are comprehending to help them “get” it (what words we use to leads them). Reading good literature in general has given us a good base of examples, illustrations, etc. to draw on, but there’s is always a need for more. So many big things for little ones to grasp.

Hi Lyndsey, I would love to receive this giveway. I am the mother of three beautiful children, 6, 4, and 2 yrs old. As I have strived to raise my children in the ways of the Lord it has been challenging and difficult to communicate big truths of the Bible to them. I didn’t grow up in a believing home and neither did my husband. I would love these books to help communicate these truths to my kiddos so that they would grow up with a mind focused on the truth of the gospel.

My grandson loves to be read to and will sit for a long time looking at his books. His mother and father read to both boys and you are their friend for life if you read to them. My daughter has also started some home schooling with the 3 1/2 year old and these books would make my grandson the happiest child in Asia.

I’d love these books for my 1 year old daughter and whatever future kiddos the Lord blesses us with! It’s hard to explain biblical concepts that are so abstract to little ones and these books would be a huge help!!!

I have 4 little girls (my oldest just turned 5) and I would love to use these books as a fun way to teach solid biblical doctrine. Would also enjoy having some more quality bedtime story books!

  229. jan December 28, 2010 at 7:16 pm #

We are helping our oldest son raise his 2 year old son-this would be great home Bible study material for our little guy!!!

  230. Sara December 28, 2010 at 7:16 pm #

A great opportunity to read to my son, and something with more “oomph” than Dr. Suess!

  231. Michelle @ Traditional Simplicity December 28, 2010 at 7:15 pm #

This book series looks simple and to the point. With a four year old, I am always looking for ways to help her learn about God and to develop her faith. In the upcoming year, I plan to give “homeschooling” preschool with her. This would be a great addition to the “curriculum” I plan to purchase from Heavenly Homemakers. :)

  232. Sarah December 28, 2010 at 7:14 pm #

I have 4 little girls (under the age of 5) and I am wanting to increase their intake of solid biblical doctrine starting at these early ages and would enjoy having these books to make it fun for them! Would also love to have more quality material for bedtime reading!

  233. Dawn S December 28, 2010 at 7:12 pm #

I think we often underestimate how much God’s word can speak to little hearts! Anyway I can share His truth with my babies is just another opportunity for them to hear. These books look great!

These are in line of what we want to teach our children and would be a great resource in teaching them. We would use them with our boys to grow as a family and help set great foundations for their lives.

  243. Melanie December 28, 2010 at 6:41 pm #

This would be a great tool to add to our books at home. I love reading to our 3 year old and sharing the truths of God’s word to him.

  244. Alida Rodriguez December 28, 2010 at 6:40 pm #

I’d love to use this with my children and the neighborhood kids that we try to minister to.

  245. jessica hilliker December 28, 2010 at 6:39 pm #

I would love to receive a set, to share with my two big readers (2 and 1 year olds), but to engage the whole family, as my husband and I are only now learning these foundational teachings for ourselves in all their richness and Truth, and we passionately desire to pass them on to our children!

  246. Michelle December 28, 2010 at 6:39 pm #

  247. Atlanta Teltoe December 28, 2010 at 6:31 pm #

My 6-year-old is starting a “children with a mission” group. The group of children gather once a month for prayer and to hear God’s mission plan for the month, such as whether they should go downtown and share God’s love and the gospel with the homeless, or share God’s message of salvation with neighbors, etc… It will be a group led and run by children. We’re very excited about what God will do through them. I don’t know if this book is for his age group, but if it is, he could learn a lot about beliefs and doctrines of christianity and be better equipped to face unbelievers.

  248. kristine December 28, 2010 at 6:31 pm #

would love this set, our 4year old is a cancer survivor ( 7 months at diagnosis) many of our friends are in awe at our strength and His healing. This would be an amazing resource to share with their children

  250. Greta December 28, 2010 at 6:29 pm #

We could definitely use this for my 18 month old daughter and #2 on the way! We would probably use this during morning devotion time.

  251. kristine December 28, 2010 at 6:28 pm #

I would love this, as my youngest is a cancer survivor, diagnosed at 7 months, we have many friends who are in awe at our faith, what a great resource to share with those that are lost when their kids are with us rejoicing in His healing

  252. Michelle December 28, 2010 at 6:27 pm #

Not only would this help with my own 2 boys, but also be a great resource for the children’s ministry in our church! Bless you.

  253. Becky December 28, 2010 at 6:23 pm #

I would love to win this set! I have a 3 1/2 year old and a (nearly) 15 month old. I would use it to incorporate Scripture and Bible lessons into their lives.

  254. jill December 28, 2010 at 6:20 pm #

This looks like a wonderful set of books. I would use them to share the word of God with my grandchildren. With the 2 yr. old, I’ve been asking him who’s birthday is it? And he points to the baby Jesus in a manger. Since he’s not had any other training I do what I can.

  255. Kristi December 28, 2010 at 6:16 pm #

  256. Kristi December 28, 2010 at 6:16 pm #

What an adorable little set!!! I think in our family, they’d be best put to use as maybe a weekly devotional. We’d go through one a week, then discuss the topic at devotions for the rest of the week. I think it would be wonderful for my preschooler and toddlers, to get exposure to these ideas, but also for my older children, as well, for refreshers. I think I might have my big kids read them to the littles throughout the week, as well, to really reinforce the concepts. :)

I homeschool my oldest, age 4.5, and we have two younger boys and another on the way. We would get endless use out of a wonderful book series like this! There is no one more important than Dad and Mom to teach theology to children.

I would LOVE to get this set. We are currently waiting for two children from Ethiopia (via adoption) and are working on our nursery library. The set would be a great way to teach our children.

i tell my little 4 year old son constantly that he is “thinking such big thoughts for such a little person.” That’s what made the book titles stand out to my heart. His questions amaze me – “Mommy, what will happen to my old body when I get my new one in heaven?” “Mommy, if Jesus is my shield [Psalm 3:3] , then do I need to carry a sword?” As my children’s (4 & 2) mommy, teacher, leader & biggest earthly fan, I believe that in my quest to lead & serve them well I need resources from wise leaders and teachers. These books would be a gift to my little “big thinkers” and their mommy!

  264. Sarah December 28, 2010 at 5:56 pm #

I would love to win it because I have a little thinker and I’d love him to have BIG (right!) thoughts about Jesus Christ…I want to teach him truth, even from a young age.

I would love to win these to use with my own children (2.5yrs, 10mos, & due in June), and to see if they’re ones we’d want to give to my newly-married sister, my sister-in-law with three young preschool kids, and a good friend with four little ones. I’ve been looking for good ways to make the gospel come alive for the children in my life!

My son (3) especially loves talking about things of God and has come up with VERY hard questions (i.e. Who is God married to, becuase if He had a Son surely He was married) He keeps us on our toes for sure and I am sure he would love this series and learn SO much! I would love the chance to win this set. My husband and daughter just a had a conversation about the trinity the other day. If she’s asking questions at 4 I want to be sure and give her sound answers that are on her level. And as my husband and I are both Bible scholars and I’m an early childhood person it is hard for us to find material that satisfies our standards. This looks promising.

  320. Kate E December 28, 2010 at 10:35 am #

My almost 4 year old daughter is starting to ask more questions about our faith and talk about it more (which I love!). These would be great to go through with her. The children’s pastor upon dedicating our son to the Lord educated us, much like literacy and language, the foundations for a child’s interest and heart for the Lord are laid in the first 4 years of life. I would love to share this set with our daughter (2.5 yrs) and son (7mos)
Thanks for your wonderful blog! I have been reading for 2.5 years

  325. Alisa December 28, 2010 at 10:26 am #

Oh, my daughter would love these! I was actually trying to explain the Trinity to her this morning, and she already knew about the Spirit descending as a dove at Jesus’ baptism, and I asker her how she knew it, and she gave her latest response: “I think in my head!”, pointing to her head. (Turned out she had seen it in a movie about Jesus).

Plus, her 5th birthday is coming up, and it would be perfect for it!

  326. Caitlin December 28, 2010 at 10:24 am #

These would be great to read with my Littles. ;)

  327. Colleen Sleadd December 28, 2010 at 10:24 am #

What a neat series! I would love to own this set to teach my children Biblical Truths right from the start! I studied theology and apologetics in my last year of highschool, and though I was always taught biblical principles it would have been even better to understand doctrine at a young age.

  328. katie raetz December 28, 2010 at 10:23 am #

My two amazing little boys need these. The other night at dinner, Oliver, my 5 year old asked Jesus into his heart. No big thing right! I am having a hard time explaining the gospel to my boys, though they are getting it I feel most of the time at a lost for words. Mostly because I have a hard time wrapping my mind around it too. Although biblical knowledge is something I was raised with, something I have sought as an adult, and something we seek as a family, I still have a hard time sharing and explaining the most basic Truth to my kids and to my non-christian friends. Not only would this series be good for my sweet little men, Oliver and Max, It would be good for me and my husband!

I would love these books! I really want my children to have a strong foundation while they are young, I’ve been looking for some books that are good for little ones and yet still theologically accurate. It seems like so many are either one or the other! Eva is just starting to be interested in books, and I know that we would get a lot of use out of them.

  331. Melissa December 28, 2010 at 9:45 am #

I have a 3 year old son and a 20 month old daughter. They recently started going to daycare as I have started back to school myself. I struggled very much with whether this was best for them and whether I was being selfish for wanting my own education. I pray every day that I find new ways to make the time we do spend to together the best quality and this would be an excellent resource to help with that. Thank you for the opportunity to win these books.

I would love those! Have a hard time putting these concepts into words which my two pre-schoolers would understand. I would read them to both at bedtime and talk about how God has a purpose for us.

I looked at these books for my son for Christmas but decided that they were a bit too old for him yet. I would LOVE to have them waiting for him as he gets older. They have such sound theology that many children’s books shy away from.

My oldest is 4 and I am going to homeschool her and would like to start with preschool so this book would be used in her daily learning program. It would be great to win! Thanks

I would love these books! My son loves to read and we’ve had these books in our cart for over a month on Christianbooks.com.

They would be so helpful to us, sometimes my 3 year old son will come to me and say “Mommy, I just don’t understand God…” Our only defense against his confusion is that we’ve spent more time studying the bible with him and spent more time in prayer.

    Thanks for this giveaway!

Good morning! I would love to bless my neice and nephew with this book. Their parents are “christians”, however, the gospel is pretty much only taught to them at Sunday school at church. I don’t see it implemented in their daily routine at home from the father or mother. These books would be a great way to teach them biblical principles at a young age. They are 3 & 5 years old. Thank you! :D

  450. Tracy December 28, 2010 at 3:05 am #

The Lord recently convicted my husband to start taking daily family worship time more seriously and use it to ground our children solidly in Scripture, not only building their faith but equipping them to answer others about their faith too. This series sounds perfect. Thank you for recommending it and thank you to those giving it away – may the Lord bless your generousity.

  451. Patricia December 28, 2010 at 2:42 am #

Scripture is definitely “Big Thoughts”. Small children often need these big thoughts explained to them in terms that are understandable for their level. Even before I was a mom I worked with small children. Sometimes I struggled with finding the best ways to explain Scripture to a child’s mind. I would use these books as aids in explaining Scripture to small children…starting with my grandchildren.Winning this set of books would give me another way to reach children with the Gospel.

  452. Heather December 28, 2010 at 1:13 am #
